Price check on isle B18
Sup guys. I've recently been told that a friend of mine is willing to sell his B18a motor for a mere $60. As much as I would love to drop this motor in my car in due time (months and months into the future) I'd like just a rough estimate of what it might take to get the motor built up money and info wise. Again, I'm not looking to do this in one night, just something to do in my free time and to give me some hands on experience to learn about my motors. If this is too much of a variable set of questions, somebody let me know and I'll go ahead and kill the topic. I'm just looking for basic info on all of this. Everything I'm looking at doing to the motor is below, any related parts I may be missing to get it on the road and in my 87 CRX Si would be great. Thanks for the help guys...
Cracks in cylinder walls, needs boring and/or sleeving.
Decent tranny for interstate use. Quick to the jump, nothing outragious, and something preferably in a 6th gear (if possible)
ECU, something that can be programmed (again, if possible) to be switchable between gas economy and more power.
Preferred exhaust pipe size

well a few things first...your not gonna find a b-series 6 speed tranny. for your first swap i'd get a motor you don't need to rebuild.
if you do go through with it here are some thing you'll need:
-hasport mounts (seeing how i don't know another company who makes b-series mounts for a first gen)
-shift linkage
-some rewiring seeing how first gens are carberated right?
-pretty sure some second gen si hubs to fit the axles.
sure there is some stuff i am missing but i'm tired

If yea really wanted to make it easier for your self I would just sell the 1st gen and pick up a 2nd gen I am sure that in your area you can find one for 1000. So When you get this car you can get the 125 dollar mounts instaed of the 500 dollar hasports. Also it is so much easier to get help and get inforamtion on how to do a swap in a 2nd gen.
But if you are trully in love with that car and wont sell then do alot of research and make sure you have all the parts before you swap it over.

purple- Bummer to hear there's no such thing as a 6 speed tranny, I just feel as if I need another gear in my car already as it is despite the 89 Integra motor I have in it. Although this is my first swap, it won't be my buddies first, whom has swapped motors out of this car twice (1st was for previous owner who blew a cam, and 2nd was the current one) not including the constant B18 swaps he's done for another buddy who likes to keep blowing his crap (gone through 5-7 B18s already maybe?) As for rebuilding the motor, if I could find one cheaper or close to the price offered that doesn't need the sleeving/boring, I'd do it in a heart beat. Right now I'm just looking into rebuilding the motor from absolute scratch.
Ak_EF- No chance in hell I'd sell this car anytime soon. it may be a pain to do the swap, but I won't let that deter me. As for those mounts, are they generally just a peice of metal that I could just get dimensions and info on from a website and have a machine shop duplicate for me? As for the motor currently in it, the car is an SI model, however its already got an 89 Integra motor in, so I'm sure the wiring has already been done as it is
