personally, i'd do a JDM K20A, boosted, and K-Pro. You'd have money left over and one SICKENING setup.

K20A2:

K-Pro
Full Race, SCI, or One Fab Turbo Kit
Manley Rods
Wiseco 9:1 Pistons
GE Sleeves
ARP Headstuds, OEM Bearings, OEM Headgasket
Tilton, Exedy or CM Twin Disc

Hmmm looks like my setup.

I doubt 10K will get you a Boosted JDM k20A. remember boosting a JDM K20A is risky because they are high compression engines. Plus a K-series swap is cheap at all. I did a K20A2 swap in my 95 civic and it nearly cost me 9500 buck including labor, parts, and a little extra goodies.

I was going to do a K-series swap in my 2001 civic ex coupe and it was close around 8500 bucks. It takes a lot of parts to make these motors fit and work right.

Sell your car and use the money to get a Type S.

The K series motor is really expensive right now. Not worth it. You could use the money to make your current motor fast, i.e. turbo.

d17+ turbo = 190ish whp.
k20+ minimal mods = 190ish whp.

The k20 will win because of better gearing.

The problem is, once u do boost your d17, everything else u can do is internal. This may or may not be a problem.

personally id rather get a k24a2, then a k20a2. Both of these start with 200 hp, but the k24 has a lot more torque, and is a lot less than a k20. Both will take boost and make a lot more HP than your d17 ever could.

If u do the swap, throw i/h/e on, and u want to go faster and still have $500. Get a nice nitrous kit, ull see 250+ whp.

with your 10K go to K20A.org and there are people selling motors constantly for cheap. The ITR or the type S motor. Some people will sell the K series frankensten swap fully built with K-pro for around 9000 bucks. Nothing will beat a K hybrid motor with K-pro. They can put out 250 WHP and 180 ish torque. I recommend going to K20A.org.

My opinion i really love my K20a2 95 civic coupe. It is really fast and the power to weight ratio is awesome. You cant go wrong with a K swap b/c its fast and reliable.

Jerry's K20 is nice. It was done by a shop in Louisville called Autolab. They know their stuff.

Personally I would go the K20A2 route and build all motor. You should be right at around 10k with bolt ons and I think you'll be happy.

Yeah.. I really don't understand sinking 10k into a late civic when you could easily buy an S with hardtop after selling the civic and adding the 10k.

But.... anyway, if I had to choose, I'd go frankenstein K20CTR/K24TSX/K20CTR Head/block/tranny.

If not that, then K20CTR.
