Default Options for OEM steering wheels on 4th gens

I know the S2000 bolts up to the 5th gens, do we have any options for 4th gens. I would really love a JDM TypeR steering wheel.
anyone do this?

Is it a pretty straight forward install? No customizing?
I am sold on that wheel! I assume no airbag in the JDM TypeR. Thats actually what I am trying to get rid of. Airbags and track cars don't mix!

I have not done it, but have seen it done. It is straight forward, unbolt the stock one, and put on the type r one. Its a popular mod in Japan. I was actually planning to do it sometime in the near future too. There is no air bag, and the wheel is made by momo.

Here is a pic:

Thanks for the help. Now I just need to justify the $300 for a Stock Steering wheel. It does look so nice though!

And for those who want to retain their Airbag, can these steeringwheels fit?

00 DC2 Type R steeringwheel

95 NSX OEM Momo Steeringwheel

Anything is possible. I am sure you can rig up the switches with some time.
The cruise control and power steering were my 1st 2 Free Mods...ditched them in 1999. I have gained 2" of girth on my forearms and my right ankle cracks and gets sore with cold weather! MAN it was worth it!!!

I assume so if the wheels are interchangable. I think the only reason the newer Honda wheel won't work is b/c of the turn signal cancel.

The question then remains, what year was the change over of the splines?

well, 96-00, 97 up odyssey, 97-01 prelude, 2000 up s2000, 02-up honda civic si, 01-up acura rsx all have the same spline...so i guess 96 and up...

So the type r wheel will fit? Does it have to be a specific year? I was under the impression that whatever fits the 5th gen won't fit the 4th gen.

First, the background: I originally imported a hub adapter for aftermarket wheels for the 5th gen a while back. For whatever reason I was under the impression that all airbag-equipped Preludes were the same hub... and that the non-airbag ones (I think '92 was the only 4th gen year) were different. It turns out it's not so.

ALL 4TH GENS APPEAR TO HAVE A SMALLER SHAFT DIAMETER. This means that 5th gen hub adapters and wheels just won't work. Since the S2k has the same hub size as the 5th gen... it won't work.

To top it off, the 4th gen uses some funky copper flex-ribbon cables inside the wheel for the cruise and SRS connectors. The SRS actually has the same connector (so a newer airbag would connect, electrically) but the cruise does not. Since it is a flex circuit it would be almost hopeless to try and solder to it, and the connector isn't anywhere close to the 5th gen or S2k ones.

Basically, it's hopeless. 4th gen owners have to get a different hub adapter (I hear a Civic one works) to use an aftermarket wheel. The s2k one won't work and it would take some serious cutting and welding to make it work. So much so it's just not worth it. You would almost inevitably have to lose the cruise control.

To top it off, I don't think the holes for the cable reel lined up. It might have worked, but it wasn't worth messing with!</TD></TR></TABLE>

Is it 3 point or 4 point? This is probably the only route to go for a wheel swap. It had better look nicer than the USDM one at least right?

There's also a JDM leather wrapped airbag wheel for 4th gen.

*^%@!!!!! Hell, I'll make my own out of paper mache.

I cant belive they are all similar if not EXACTLY alike. I don't like the stock ones, and I still haven't found an after market one that is asthetically apealing...on top of that they aren't cheap.

Oh, well.........expletive it.
