Default d15b vtec swap help

Posting for a friend: He purchased this motor off of ebay a couple weeks ago because his is shot. It will be going into a 95 Civic DX and we need to know the technicalities of this swap. Will the ECU need to be changed? What's going to happen with the wiring? Anything else we should look out for? Thanks for the help

-Dave

You need to wire up the VTEC solenoid to your ECU. Use the FAQ thread on the first page to learn how. You will then need to use the P08 ECU that should have come with your swap, if not, use a P28 ECU.

Most likely your swap is not going to come with a P08 ECU. A P08 ECU would be ideal for a D15b because that is the ECU intended for that engine. But since a P08 is a single wire O2 sensor ECU you would have trouble with your four wire O2 sensor that your DX comes with. What you need to do is either get a P28 and call it a day, or get a P28 and have it programmed to P08 specs while maintaining your DX four wire O2 sensor. Good Luck.

I just bought a 93SI hatch

the kid put a D15B into it, now i dont know what ECU he put into it.

it seems like its runnng rich,

the O2 sensor that is installed is a 4 wire, he gave me the one wire O2 sensor.

can i just install the one wire O2 and tap into a wire?

how can i find out what ECU i have??

Look at the ECU itself and there should be the ECU code on the side. Don't install the one wire O2 sensor, keep your 4 wire just get a P28.
