Front engine seal question.
Hi all,
Don't really know much about this but I'm hoping you guys can give me a little advice. My daughter has a '93 Accord with approx. 300,000 km on it. Today she called me and told me the oil light was flickering but fortunately she was close to a gas station and had the oil checked there. It was barely reading on the stick. She added the oil and drove home. She later left and oil light was flickering again so she stopped at a fast lube shop and they said it was "pouring" out of the front head seal and that she was smart to have shut it down when she did. Anyway, I'll have it looked at tomorrow. Any opinions on what I should do? Is this going to be a huge job and be more $$ than the car is worth? Other than this it has been running fine.
Thanks in advance for any advice
Gary

Sounds like it puked out the balancer shaft seal. It's not a bad fix, just go ahead and have the timing belt and water pump replaced again and have them replace the seal. (you may want to have it towed to your Honda dealer (or Honda specific shop). But that kind of mileage is nothing for that Accord. I would get in one and drive it across the country if needed.
make sure that they install the retainer to prevent the seal from popping out again. When was the last time the timing belt was done? If it was anything in the last 5 years, the retainer should have been installed as part of the timing belt kit
It sounds to be the Front Camshaft Seal (if indeed they pulled the Timing Belt cover and actually looked at it) (#30 in supplied illustration link)

It is also possible the Counter balance Shaft Seal may have either popped loose or has started leaking.
Either way, I'd suggest the timing belt be replaced since it's most likely oil soaked. If it hasn't been done in the last 80,000 miles, it's due to be changed anyway.
As to your question as to what to do. .... You've got a car that's cheap to insure, you probably pay no property taxes on it and how much would you have to spend on a newer version (of anything) to replace it.
You're not going to sell it in the condition it's in (or won't get what you want for it), so why not just fix it?
