Are the more expensive cooling fans worth it?
will they give you any gains? I was reading the summitracing catalog and one of the fans for $200 read
"By replacing your stock engine-driven fan with one of these Flex-a-lite Black Magic electric fans, you can get back up to 17 free horsepower that the stock fan was stealing. With a powerful motor and steep blade angle, Black Magic fans can move up to 2,800 cfm of air--enough to cool 300 HP vehicles without air conditioning, and 250 HP vehicles with air. These 15 in. diameter puller-type fans have an adjustable thermostat and a fiberglass shroud that withstands heat up to 250 degrees F."
Is this true or should i stick to a $50 pep boys one?

just get a 12" slim fan for $90 or so. i cant speak for those $200 fans. but if you have a good radiator you shouldn't need an expensive fan. mine hardly even comes on.
edit: your stock honda fan is electrical anyways so there would be no freeing of power anyways.

How? Buy cooling down the engine to stock heat spec? Oh wait, it does that by itself with stock everything.</TD></TR></TABLE>
thats only implied with vehicles that have belt driven fans

If you are worried about cooling put a AC fan on there and wire it to the current fan then you have plenty of cooling power. Honda fans are already electric therefore you will not free up 17hp.
<---Wonders why anyone would need that much CFM flowing through the radiator.
