Let her get warm.

Then check this:

Does your temp gauge go up? If not, it's dead or not plugged in and the fan will not kick on, overheating it.

Does the fan kick on? If not, it might be dead, and not cooling down the coolant when the sensor tells it too, or read as above.

Open your rad cap? Go any little air bubbles in there? You might have an air bubble in there, not letting the coolant flow properly, thus overheating the engine.

Look down and check the condition of your rad fins at the bottom. Poke them, rub them. Are they rusted? Having a rotted out rad which has no fins wil simply not have the air flow to cool down properly, thus making it overheat.

Does are basically all the possible problems.

well mine fan is straight wired so when i turn the car on that comes on.my rad. does have some bent fins.but wouldnt it over it beofre that.when i did the thremostate change i bleed the system and it was ok.the thremo switch is ok cause it will run fine till it warms up from driving down the road, then it starts to overheat.when it does that ill pull over let it idel for a min then it goes down.oh btw i have no rust on the rad. anywhere.please anymore help on this i dont want to blow a head gasket.
anyone know the stock running temp of the crx?

Should be 180F.

Check the level of your coolant. Make sure it's a good mix.

i know this is going to sounds dumb but im just using water!u know as i sat here thinking i wonder if it is my thermo swtich going bad??<<<<temp gauge sensor
i forgot to pop my cap monday night and it got cold as **** could that be the reason why its running hotter then ****??could it be the guage inside the car going bad?i toook out the thermostate last night cuase i thought it got stuck closed.i drove it to autozone and then striaght to work this morning with no thermostate and it still kinda run hot.now correct me if im worng but an engine 4 cyl. v6 or v8 no of them should overheat runing without a thermostate cause the coolant is free flowing.but mine did.AND YES I AM RUNNING MY FAN WHILE IM DRIVING.anymore ideals???????

You should always have a thermostat. Running the engine too cold is never good. Especially if you beat on it.

Now let's see. Throw some regular coolant in there and check. If not, then boil some water and throw your thermostat in there, see if it opens up. If it doesn't then you have a bad replacement thermostat.

I dunno man. You have me stumpped. The temp gauge in the cluster can't break. If your fan is hot wired then you are simply not getting flow inside your cooling system. Maybe your water pump is dead (busted fins).

Oh wait. Do you actually know if it's overheating? A fucked up sensor can tell you the car is overheating when it's really not. My EF did that. It was stuck on 3/4 but the engine was always colder to the touch then my brother B18C1 which ran at 1/3. I don't know how much they cost since I just did a swap.

my sensor encounters some electrical interference sometimes, and it reads wrong. Unless you are spraying coolant everywhere when the temp goes up, I dont think you are overheating.

You might want to look into that waterpump. I had the same problem once, i run straight water also and the fins on the waterpump were completly rusted away so i was getting no waterflow. Thats what sucks about straight water, it rusts everything

Stop yelling.

Now, water gets warm = boils = increase in volume = spiting out the top.

Only way you can test a water pump of running is doing a compression test on the radiator when it's running. Basically, it's a mechanical gauge that replaces your cap, when you run the car, the needle moves up as the pressure rises inside the radiator because of the pump.

Change your sensor, then if it happens, change your water pump. Everything else should be fine because you say it is. That as far as we can go.

No. It's tapped into the block, not the actual water system.

I'm like, 95% sure, I took one out but the block was already drained. If someone can back me up on this.

If the pump is bad you will have a fun weekend replacing it. Keep me updated as to what it was.
