Default wiring an o2 sensor... help me out. i've search for a week

well... i have a bosch o2 universal sensor that i got for free so i cannot complain. although everybody hates them, i decided to give it a try.

now as for wiring, my engine is a d15b sohc VTEC and the wiring harness is off a usdm 94 del sol S model.

the o2 connection has 4 wires:

OEM (my wire harness)
-orange/black
-yellow/black
-green/white
-white

they BOSCH sensor
-white
-white
-black
-green

what the hell goes where? i've searched and everything is all different colors than everybody elses.

Click here and then click on the Universal Oxygen Sensor Installation Manual. Though the manual doesn't exactly agree with your particular wire colors, 3 of 4 do and if you had a meter, you could measure the two white just to make sure (15-40 ohms).

If you end up getting a code 43, at least you got something to point your finger at.

...or that one.

So, you do/don't have the O2 sensor hooked up? If 'do', what wires are connected to what? If 'don't', a code seems par for the course.

i'm at work right now... forgot what it's actually connected to. but it runs find for like a day or 2... than i get a code.

i don';t think these sensors suck... it has to do with my wiring. i think the butt connectors aren't doing it.

did you ask the person why they gave you the sensor for free???
setting a code ina day or two means the sensor is getting some singnal. If it wasn't it would set the code in a few minutes.
If the sensor itself is bad then it may do this.
It could also be something to do with how you connected the wires. Are they nice and tight connections?

it's new out of the box.

i'm using butt connectors. i think that is probably why it's throwing code #1. or i wired it wrong. i have no idea

just to verify here's how you should have conected the O2.

civic color - O2 color - function
yel/blk - white - heater power
orn/blk - white - heater control
grn/wht - green - O2 ground
white - black - O2 signal
(the white O2 wires do not matter which is which)

NOTE: the JDM D15B engine comes with the P08 ECU. If you're using the P08 ECU a 4-wire O2 will not work, it uses a 1-wire O2.

i actually have a 4 wire harness.

my o2 AND my wire harness has 4 wires. ALSO using a p08 ECU. when i had my original o2 (off the USDM del sol S) it worked fine.

it should work ok, but the ECU isn't looking for a heater so you don't care about the white O2 wires.
you'll also never get a code 41 (O2 heater)

make sure you have the
grn/wht --> green
white --> black (ground)
