Default estimate for turboing

I'm just looking for a quick estimate of how much it would cost to turbo my '94 h23 vtec. If/when I do I would probably build up the engine at the same time but Im not sure what needs to be done. If I take the car into a shop and have them build it up and slap a turbo on, how much would it cost including the cost of parts and such?????

i dont know about the h23... but having worked about 6 hours with my install today going over all the parts and all... it's going to take quite a bit. i've spent somewhere between 2-3 thousand (too scared to actualy add it up and see) and i've left the internals alone..... for now

hahaha. Probably more than 3000. I'm almost half way (quantity wise) on my build right now - and I have at LEAST $2,200 more to go........I've spent well more than $2,000 already.

That doesn't count tuning either - ****, just thought about that.

yeah - and thats just for parts. Haven't budgeted in suspension work at all. Nor have I budgeted in body work........its all a big pile of money - but thats why i'm taking my time, choosing the parts that are right for me. Ha, i change my mind about my setup like 3 times a day. I'm always always thinking about my setup and what I can do to improve it somehow.

well my suspension is built up just as i like it. ii've been researching and buying parts for this since december... i finally got everything about 3 weeks ago and i've spent all the time since making sure it's all as i wanted. then i just left it to the techs for when they had time to start.

but i really should have checked the fuel pump before i went and bought a new one. oh well

haha. Well i guess you have the money to spend........

I have money, but something always comes up you know. I just turned 18 in August - so i'm pretty young - but i'm still handling my own paying almost 1k in bills and still going to school 8 hours a day. Waiting for this internship coming up later this year. So for now, i just have to buy everything piece by piece without sacrificing my living.

if you don't have enough money to do it proper, don't waste what money you have. save up and do it right.

I am saving and doing it right - thats why its taking me a million years. I'm not sacrificing anything for a car.......
I've been researching the right parts for my setup forever. Ever since I had the car.

im debating over the amount of work to do on the engine itself b4 i boost it. i got a 92 prelude with jdm h22 i think im gunna go mahle pistons and not sleeve the block but i kinda wanna tear the motor apart and get everything in there looked at and fix ne small defects that have gone wrong b/c who knows how it was treated over in japan b4 i got it. i know that would be the smart thing to do considering i wanna run like 10-12 psi all the time and on race night up it. i got a year to figure this all out lol but theres so much research to do itll take you that long to decide on1 build then change your mind b/c you found something new.....

i will be stisfied with mine once i can get the tuning done better. i have had some coolant leaks that have stopped me from being able to finish the tuning. so its runing a little rich and so on from unstable engine coolant temps.

Any updates? Its 6:25pm my time.....should make a video.

You know what - I think i'm just going to run 7psi on the street - but have it tuned for both 7psi and 10-12 psi for race......i think that'll be smart - especially the way the gas prices are.

well, with a bit of struggle.. and many things not fitting too well (DAMN YOU FMAX!!!) we're... ALMOST done. need to get new hi pressure fuel hose for the fmu (yea, i know fmu's suck but i'm saving up for injectors and hondata and all). so... fmu, wideband 02, adjust the intercooler pipe fitting and.... i think thats all i got left.. oh yea, gotta cut and weld the flange on my exhaust to fit a bit better. hopefully everything but the welding will be done tomorrow. hopefully.

i'd make a video but all i have is my phone and the qaulity isn't that great... i'm trying to upload a few pics i took so i'll have them posted in a new thread shortly

as for taking a peak at it, AIM me: bard329 if you got time you could come by and see it in progress.. but don't expect too much.. it isn't THAT impressive and we had to cut a few corners for now (but rest assured, those corners will be uncut next week)
