Default Realy long to warm up

Hi, i was wondering if anyone knos why..or if anyone else has the same problem and its just normal for a 95 civic cx to take almost 20 min's to fully warm up. I dont think its my radiator because i have blazing heat.

P.S. same weather..gf's car will warm up in 2 min at the most..(97 CL) and my car will take 20 mins

thanks

check the thermostat.. could be stuck open so you have constant flow threw the motor

yep, 9 times out of 10 long warm ups are caused by a stuck thermostat

i have the same problem. i changed the thermostat and it did nothing. the old one wasnt stuck. it doesnt make sense to me, just takes at least 15min to get decent heat.

me and a couple of my EG buddies have the same problems, idling it takes forever to warm up (or the gauge to show it), but if you let it idle for a couple minutes then take off it goes right up. i think its just a common problem with the EGs, maybe the Coolant temp sensors arent sensative or something.

There is nothing common about that. fix the problem.

all i can think of is that, if your thermostat is not stuck then maybe you have a very thick oil in the motor. try changing your oil to 5W30 or 10W30. thats just a suggestion tho/what i think.

Explain how running a thicker oil would cause the car to warm up slower, please..

im not saying "long warm up" is common, because mine doesnt take long to warm up even in 32° weather, it just doesnt read warm until i take off/start driving, like the CTS isnt working right. same thing with atleast two other buddies cars.

the original poster said he has "blazing heat" which means his car is warming up, probably the same problem i got with the gauge just not reading right.

Honestly I had the same problem but changed my oil and not sure if it was me or I'm just a huge stoner but it warmed up my car twice as fast! no joke try it out

Oh forgot to add what I used: used 10W30!

i have this problem.. i hooked my vafc up so i know its accurate.. it takes atleast 5-10 minutes to warm my car up on a cold day. i think its the ecu now that ive checked everything else. car idles at like 1400rpm and works its way down. i never leave until its under 1000.. but eventually itll idle at 650-800 depending on the day.. motor is freshly rebuilt.. had this same problem before i rebuilt the engine.. the only thing is that the crankshafts has been polished balaned and lightened everything else is stock.. stock sleeves pistons etc.. i think its an ecu issue
i have obd2 v2 00si..
