Transmission Replacement
how can you tell if your tranny is going bad? mines been making a clicking noise when in neutral and when i push clutch down sound goes away (till tonight now the sound stays) and also when i switch gears you can hear it really loud when switching gears except 4th and 5th.. i wouldnt say its grinding gears but sort of a light grind..also i have a new clutch, well say 6 months old now

all I can think of is the throwout also...
it shouldn't have went in 6 months though...
The only other thing I can think of is possibly the syncros are fucky (possibly broken)

Gonna have to rip it apart again....I just did a tranny,clutch,and (tob) on my sohc....Sounds like your synchros are goin if its makin an awful noise between your 4-5 shifts and your throw out is definetly shot..It happens to the best of us....Good Luck
Everyone who replied to this thread sucks at life. The problem is a failing input shaft or other mainshaft bearing. Have a ball ripping apart your transmission and replacing it.

Once i read this (Well, my story began last week when my transmission started making weird noises. These noises included a whine at high RPM, and a chatter/clicking from the transmission at idle. This chatter went away when I depressed the clutch) i knew u were dead on.
