cat back exhaust VS Regular Exhaust
ok my car needs a new exhaust, my plans right now is to change my header, put in 2 1/4 from front to back with a high flow converter and a muffler. is there any benifits to getting a cat back exhaust over this exhaust system explained above???? other then the fact that they are stainless steel and last longer then my steel piped system???
WELL THE AFTERMARKET STAINLESS HAS A CERTIAN AMOUNT OF REASERCH BEHIND IT . A CUSTOM HAS A SIMILAR BEND AND DESIGN AS A STOCK EXHAUST SYSTEM. STEEL SYSTEMS ARE CHEAP, AND YOU ARE RIGHT THEY DONT LAST AS LONG,IM SOME CASES.AS FAR AS THE POWER IMPROVMENT , USING CONSUMER WORD OF MOUUTH IS YOUR BEST WAY TO GO. I RECOMMEND A LOCAL GUY WHO HAS EXPERIENCE WORKING ON YOU PETICULAR VEICHLE OR MOTOR THESE PEOPLE I FIND TO BE THE MOST INGENUIS.UNLESS YOU ARE ESPECIALLY CONCERNED WITH LOOKS. THEY TEND TO BE UGLY UNDERNEATH BUT YOU ALWAYS HAVE A CHOCIE OF MUFFLERS. MUFFLERS MAKE OR BRAKE YOUR EXHAUST SYSTEM .HEADERS, DC'S ARE FINE. IF YOU WANT TO USE A DOWN PIPE OR CAT ,CATS DONT THROW CODES, PIPES DO.WIEGHT IS A FACTOR AS WELL BUT BY ONLY 5 TO 10 LBS. A CUSTOM USUALLY WIEGHS MORE.
catback just refers to the piping and muffler from the catalytic converter to the back of the car. With the setup you mentioned you will still need the catback portion, so yeah...
Most Catback systems are pretty good like he said they're not very pretty underneath but the overall benefits cancel that out( Like fitting and stuff)
