Default the truth about engine swaps

what is the truth about engine swaps. How much will i spend in the long run. i'm thinking about putting the h22 in in a 94 civic hb. i heard if you do a engine swap you will always have problems with your car i want to do this swap but i still want it it be a daily driver.

If it is done right and well maintained there shouldn't be any problems.

it took me and my frineds about 5 hrs to swap a B18b in his hatch..but i heard for an H22 you have to cut some stuff to make it fit. so look forward to spending a solid few days on doing this. everyone i know with a swap never has any more problems then someone with out a swap properly mantained that is

I think some little japanese kid took my motor around for a solid beating before taking it out of his car and shipping it to the states....I did my best to maintain it and still had a vtec solenoid gasket leak, cam seal problem, and auto ecu that had to be switched out, a disconnected iat wire....

Nothing 5 bucks and a post on HT couldnt fix...Nothing Huge or a ton of money but it still was some stress...then again it was a 14 yr old motor from another country....

Set aside some money for minor problems....there are going to be some no matter what you do, but just be prepared...

The day my swap got here I completely dissasebled the engine and trans, replaced every gasket and seal, and threw in a bunch of goodies. Oh, and the swap paid for itself after I sold all of the stock internals on EBAY.

With any swap. You're going to run into problems. Small or big, you'll run into something. Your best tool is knowledge to fix these problems. Just be prepared.
