Fluctuating Idle Speed
My 6th Gen. 4MT with 103,000 km (63,860 mi.) has recently developed a strange habit. After a cold start, and after light throttle application such as backing out of a parking stall, the idle speed will go up and down for a period of a few minutes. The amplitude of these swings starts out at a range of maybe 800-1000 rpm and gradually settles down to a steady, normal idle speed within a 2 - 3 minutes. The car drives perfectly otherwise and gas mileage remains where it always has been. No "check engine" warnings have been observed. If I just let it sit and warm up without attempting to drive it, the idle is nice as steady. Before I spend money to have the dealer look at it, I would appreciate any comments from those with experience in such things. Thanks.
accords idle high when they are really cold.. to warm up the engine.. don't leave it on for too long when you start it, i believe its considered bad to leave a cold engine idling without changing the RPM's from what i've read. It is also bad to have the heat on blasting in the car when the engine is cold, it will starve the engine of the heat it needs.
