Pro's and Con's on Skunk2 Intake Manifold
Well, i been in the Integra game for a short time and all i been hearing is how bad the Stock GSR intake manifold is. People saying that its poorly designed and that theres no way to activate the 2nd manifold flap.
Thats why i been looking into getting the Skunk2 one...not the Pro-series.
Ok. so my question is, for people that has them....
What were the improvements you made?
What were the powers you gained/Lost? Low-end & Hi-end...
How did the car feel over all after you put in the Mani?
All comments welcomed...

its all about your set up. if your just going to have I,H,E and not upgrading anything else, stick with the dual stage mani. if your going to throw in sum bigger cams then use the sk2 mani. i use to have a skun2 manifold in my gsr with just bolt ons and it ran like ****. lost alot of low end and also bogs at 4500rpm when vtec hits (ull also need VAFC or anything that has higher vtec Xover) i actually went back to stock manifold and gain alot more power

It may be but Honda designed that mani for that engine. Unless your planning on running more than bolt-ons, leave it.
Here's some pros and cons to stay on topic
Pro- Looks better
Con- I still have cuts all over my hands and arm from helping a friend install a S2 mani. That thing is retarded tight. Felt like I was workin on a VW

i think it is a must have mod for a gsr, lost a lil bottom but felt improvements at 4800+ and it might be just me but vtec sounded a lil louder, i did notice more improvements when i raised vtec to 5600
edit** yes u must have your basic bolt ons to get improvements *

I put my Skunk2 manifold on my boosted setup with CTR cams and it made a good amount of difference. Not only did it eliminate the extra variable of tuning the IABs, it also flows a lot better in the high end.
All this is really useless to a bolt-on setup, though, since I was actually bottlenecking at the manifold. The dual stage manifold isn't a bad design and unless you know you are bottlenecking, there should be no reason to change it.

I got NO bolt-ons....
Pure stock

well then your looking into the upgrade @ the wrong time.
the gsr IM is designed to give good low,mid range, and high power.
as far asi know, if you have just bolt-ons(i/h/e) it will not do much. but if you put in some cams, gear, etc. with the skunk2 im. then you will notice considerable gains (and if you have vtak youll notice more so than without). also id guess if you were going to run a turbo setup itd be a good choice. gl

i say get it.. i love mine... vtec pulls alot louder.. car sounds meaner too... but u need to change ur vtec engagement point or else u will loose power... i have a 2001 GSR which is OBD2 and not chipable... so i got a 2000 type-r ecu and works great... just have to take to acura so they can program ur Key to the ecu if ur running an OBD2B comp like i am... but if its OBD1 then just chip it

look at the mods in my sig... I did the bigger TB and sk2 IM at the same time and there was a noticeable difference! Obviously once you do cams OR intake mani, GET TUNED! or atleast some sort of base map... Otherwise your car really will run like crap
