I have one, but I am afraid it won't be "cheap" by your definition. You check retail on these things? Its a wideband O2, not cheap. If you really want it, make me an offer.

The difference isthe wideband does ALOT more than the narrowband 4wire oxygen sensors. When people use widebands to tune their car and get A/F ratios....well REAL A/F rations, not crap autometer lean/rich readings, they use wideband oxygen sensors. They are NOT cheap and you will most likely pay for a decent one. I hae occasionally seen them on here for $50 or so. But you will have to look and get lucky. Ebay and Honda will get you

i looked into them and they are just as expensive as a reg 02 sensor
the vx sensor is 5 times what a regular 02 sensor is

This is what the majority of them sell for. There are still a VERY LIMITED amount of them out there for the $150 range, but as those sell, the new supply will be around $400 or so. The manufactures raised pricing on them is my understanding. Even a regular 4 wire doesn't sell for $150, so I don't know where vtecnologist is getting his info from.

supply + demand = price hike

VX O2 sensor = NGK L1H1 wideband O2. (L2H2 can be used also)
36531-P07-003

ebay, occasionally they go through there for $100-150.

BTW with the VX you need to have the right O2 or you will have a CEL.

Yeah. $309 is the cheapest I see on ebay right now. I would sell mine but its my backup since I use them for tuning.

honda pt # 36531p07003
retail $ 452.75
walker bosch and denso are all between 300 and 400
i already checked H-T, EBAY, and every site on the internet that sells A/M
02 sensors
theres no way im spending that kinda money on a part for a stock vx motor
i just want to replace the sensor, smog it, and register it
all im asking is if anyone has a cheap used one they want to part with,
knows where i might be able to get a replacement cheaper than that , or
knows any other model honda uses the same or simmilar sensor
that might be cheaper
thanks guys

the VX is on it's own with that O2 sensor. the HX uses a sensor that's similer but not able to be used. (about the same $$ anyway)

sorry man, I'm in the same boat as Hybrid93Eg, I have a new one sitting here but it's not for sale.

if you can find those O2s, pick them up and resell them. take the profets and buy the O2 you need.

this was another reason I converted to OBD1. I was already going to because of tuning but the 5wire sensor price is absolutely ridiculous. Even now, I take the CEL and not so good fuel economy and run my 5wire ECu with a 4wire oxygen sensor (took the turbo off and put the car back to stock with stock OBD2 ECU). I bought a 4wire engine harness and I plan on using that one along with a EX ECU so I can run the 4wire without a CEL.

You can get lucky on here and ebay but you have to be extremely lucky. I remember awhile back when I needed one, there was a guy selling like 3 or 4 Z1 5wire sensors for under $100 each.

The reason why they're so expensive is because all the people with standalone ECUs ie Haltec etc, bought them up. I should know, I have one on my now defunct Corolla with an adapted AEM EMS. *(sorry not for sale)

if you want to switch ECUs and get rid of the lean burn mode that the VX uses.
Then yah you can convert.
It will also run worse than the P07 all the time because the VX has a different combustion chamber design than any other honda.
