ran into the same problem this weekend
its a bitch to remove the cable from the drum assembly
i just mangled the fitting that held it to the drum
took about an hour and a half
i know there has to be an easier way

yeah disconnect the cables inside the car and drop the trailing arm. No need to disconnect the cable from the drum .You wasted an hour and a half LOL

to the op, could you give some more info? What is the problem with the ebrake cable?

It's a tight fit getting the cables unbolted from near the gas tank.
