Polk db650 fits EG hatch?
These are 6.5" speakers for the front door of a '92 VX.
Some sites (like Crutchfield, Circuit City) say no, some (like Cardomain) says yes. Anyone have these installed? Any problems in installation?
TIA

you can make anything fit. It a matter of taking time to get it to work. Or a matter of time to build some spacers or baffles. Make sure you sound deaden thoses doors. You will thank me later.
There really is no benefit to putting oversized speakers in the car. Big speakers are good for better clarity of bass. But if you want good bass, you want a subwoofer. Use mids for mid range. 5 1/4 is fine for mid range.
You can put them in, but you may need spacers and/or some cutting of not just the plastic but the metal in the door. Often times you can simply take the useless speaker covers that come with the aftermarket speakers, take off the screens, and put them under the speaker to act as a spacer instead of on top.

I'm not trying to oversize, I'm just confused about what is stock. I assume you are saying that 5.25" is stock? Some websites like cardomain says that 6.5" is stock and you need an adaptor to use the 5.25" model.
Right now there's a 5.25" aftermarket speaker (that's assuming you measure from the outside of the surround, because the overall diameter is almost 6.5") mounted on a bracket that looks like stock and not an adaptor, but I'm not sure so I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

The stock speaker is a "standard" 6.5" speaker that uses a 5" mounting hole, they are not to be confused with the new "over-sized" 6.5" speakers that have mounting hole sizes of more then 5", will not fit the oem Honda speaker housing.
The other thing that has to be taken into account is the speakers mounting depth, the stock one is about 2" if I remember correctly, and although you can find aftermarket 6.5" standard speakers that are just under 2" deep, most are more, if you cut the back out of the oem speaker housing , you can get about another 1/2" -3/4" of extra depth, adding a spacer can get you another 1".
Eclipse, Infinity, Panasonic and Sony and there are probably others, still make a standard 6.5" that is just under 2" deep and will fit the oem housing without any mods.
