H&R Sports w/stock struts?
Hey everyone,
I just got a new set of H&R sport springs for my Del Sol VTEC (b16) .. I have 73600 miles, I'm wondering if I could use the springs with my stock struts?? They still feel really good and I was only going to replace them with either GR2s or HPs anyway.. It's just a year round daily driver with MAAAYBE one or two for fun autox events.. How long do the stockers usually last??
thanks

You can use the H&R's with stock shocks.
Are they the original shocks with that 73600 mile count? If so, depending on the conditions in your area and how you drive, they may be on the waning half of their life as it is. A rule of thumb is to have the shocks checked every 12,000 miles, I end up needing to replace the shocks on my family's cars about every 65-80,000 miles depending. A drop will only accelerate that, the 1.3"f/1.25"r small(ish) drop that it is.
So go ahead and use the stock shocks for the moment, but I would look into replacing them pretty soon

Yep original shocks exactly.. I'm surprised at how good they feel as is.. I just figured save some cash and only spend on what is really neccessary.. But i'll see how it goes.. thanks for the input..

I did the same thing... now I'm looking for a better shock.
The stock shock can't keep up with the spring rate. Period.
I't not dangerous by any means, but not fun either.
Get some better shocks, whatever your budget allows, I'm going to.

Yeah hes right. You wont be doing any high performance driving with those stock shocks and lowering springs. I have discovered that upgrading shocks first will help handling alot more than the other way around. Even with stock springs my Koni's just make the ride awsome. I was rallying a back highway in cali just the other night and I was averaging 75-80 on this super twisty road and I will tell you right now it wouldnt have been possable with the stock shocks.

I have had the H&R sports on stock shocks for about 6 months. So far so good. The ride isn't that bad either. If you only plan on using the car for daily driving then I would say go for it. If you plan on auto crossing then I would suggest going ahead and getting some new shocks.

it will hold..the ride isn't going to be all that but it should be okay...my 2 roomates are both running h&r sports with stock shocks....my roomates accord rides alot more bouncy than the myother roomates DA though...
Whatever you do, don't buy the HPs. They are worse than stock shocks.
Upgrade with AGX, Illumina or Yellow from the start and save yourself trouble and money.

I hear so many conflicting reports about tokico HPs.. some people say they're great, others say they'd never buy them again.. I dunno which way to go wit all that...
Anyone have any solid reliable info?
thanks
