Default Dyno Results Skunk2 1.8L ITR with crap tune!!!

Really its a wonder the car stayed together with the a/f that occured when VTEC engaged. Take a look for yourself and see. A/F sucks bad!!!

Here are the specs of the motor/setup:
'99 JDM ITR motor/tranny
mild port and polish on head and intake manifold
hondata intake manifold gasket
skunk2 springs and retainers
skunk2 stage 1 cams (original st 1 cams)
skunk2 cam gears
buddy club 1pc head gasket
arp head studs
AEM 3" CAI modified into a short ram
stock JDM ITR header with straight 60mm piping to an espelir muffler
crome chip for stock ITR but not for mine as u can see!!!

peak numbers were:
181 whp
126 wtq

I think now that I've got my a/f ratio set it should put out alot more power. I have it set right at 12.5 all the way across the board now, I just havent had a chance to take it back to the dyno to see what it will do. This upcoming weekend I plan on changing the cams though, im gonna drop the Buddy Club IV's back in and see what she can do with those thunder sticks back in.

Better cams, better header, better intake, better tune and you should see some nice gains.

yeah exactly, the car needed alot more fuel. the cams are almost identical to ITR cams, I dropped those in there because I had them sitting around. The only difference is .3mm more lift on exhaust and 249 duration and intake is same lift with 252 duration. So they arent much bigger than stock ITR cams and even at that the cams arent dialed in. I had the exhaust cam set at 0 degrees and the intake cam advanced 2 degrees running a base timing of 16.5. I now have a chip burner and got my Innovate wideband working so the a/f is almost perfect now and wow what a difference.

Future: I cant decide to put my buddy club 4 cams back in or go a little smaller to the bc3+ or skunk2 pro1's. What header and cams would you guys recommend?? I already have a set of bc4's. But I think they are a little big for the application. Ive been looking at different headers, Ive looked at RMF, and Mugen mostly. But i cant see spending 900 dollars for 7-12 whp. What are ur guys suggestions.

Thanks
James

Better intake? do u meen the intake manifold or the intake itself? From what ive seen here on the board the AEM 3" ITR CAI is the best to have? I still have the rest of the CAI extension. The intake was a one piece and I bought it used and it had been chopped in half and an air bypass filter put in, but i took that out and have a turbo fitting coupling the piping together. Anywho if the AEM isnt the best then what is everybody else using to make more power?

By better intake I meant better than a short ram. The CAI is quite effective when the full length and intake charge cooling are utilized. An intake manifold that has been cut open and properly ported is also good for a few ponies.

Cool. I opened the intake manifold and the head up a little and port matched the intake to the head as well. Here are some pictures of the head and the intake manifold.

bc4 are too much for this motor. bc3+ would give significant midrange gains over the skunk2 stage 1 with similar peak numbers.

ask me how I know.

I've had the cams in this motor before and they ran quite well, a whole lot better than these Skunk2 Stage 1's that are in here now. If I put another cam in the motor other than the Buddy Club IV's its gonna be the Skunk2 Pro1's or Pro2's, Either way something has to be done about these Skunk2 stage 1's cause they are choking the motor right now.

There is a success story of a very similar setup, I like the numbers he put down.
