my friend wants to sell me his 89 si super cheap i have seen the car and everything is in good to great condition. He took it to a mechanic cuz he was having problems with it now he is trying to get rid of the car. The problem that i am trying to trouble shoot is the fact the car will start but will not stay running. The mechanic told my buddy it was the feul pump. by cheap i mean 800 to 1000 thats it.

 

800-1000 means 800 if that is what your friend quoted you. Take him for $800 and regardless of what's wrong with it you got a good deal.

 

Well yeah, but a fuel pump isn't no $800.

Regardless of the problem CRXs are getting rare to locate esp. the SI model.

How did the mechanic pinpoint that it's the fuel pump?
Does the car warm up at all and then shut down?
After it dies does it start back up again or do you have to wait for cool down?

I'm sure others can elaborate.

 

he never gave me the specifics he really has no idea about his car and yes it is only going to be 800 flat that i give him. i am probably going to go over his head and talk to his dad cuz the kid is not too bright. and for 800 ill replace a fuel pump, but i think i will talk to his dad about.
