Please help me make a decision!
Ok this is a technical/cosmetic question so i decided to post it here. I have a black EK with stock wheels. I just lowered it with Tein S-Tech Springs and I was looking to put wheels on it next. The question I have is, what would be the best size wheel to get. I don't want to buy a wheel that will be too big and make me go slow, and i want the function of the stock wheel but better look. This is the wheel that I am wanting to purchase.

I am also looking for opinions. Will this wheel look good on a black 2 door coupe?
Thank you!

well the wheel is ok, im not a fan of black wheels with a silver lip on black cars. but if i was going to get it i would get prob 16x7. i think it would look better all gloss black.
Alright thanks for your input! A friend of mine told me that 15's would be good. So i'm still looking for other opinions! I've seen some black cars on here with black rims with a polished lip before and i thought they looked tight. Anyone else have an opinion on what size i should get?
a technical answer.
pick the wheel, and then look at weight per size.
normally you see a pretty big difference between 15-16-17.
I would not reccomend anything past 17.
205 on 16 on 17 would be fine, and will work fine with the factory offsets. You wont loose much with the increased traction from the tires. (more surface area touching means more force neeeded to move said area)

hmm more friction requires more force to move? Makes me lean toward smaller size when i think about it that way. .thanks for the input! also another thing to add. . is i don't want my speedometer to be off too much after i get the wheels put on either i dunno if that changes ne thing or not.
id go with the 15s and get a tire size thats as close to the stock tire's circumference as possible. then again it might not look as good lowered, but stay in the general neighborhood

replace friction with mass.
a wider tire is going to take more force to move.
We are not talking crazy differences though.
Think of it this way - there is a trade off going on (in more extreme situations), if you have wider tires, you have more contact with the ground = better handling and traction.
More contact requires more power to get everything moving.
Honestly, you wont see a huge loss (if any noticable) going with a 205 over 195. You probably won't see much gain either.

I run 18's and 14's. I see no difference in acceleration between the two wheels other than my $35/piece 14's don't hook at all.
My 18x7s stick through corners very well with no slipping. The tires are more expensive, though.
I would go with a 16 or 17, depending on the drop, unless you plan on doing auto-x or road course, in that instance I'd stay with 15s.

tires have a lot to do with that as well, a $30 will not hold anywhere near what a $150 tire will.
also what width are those 14s? that will effect it too.
are the 14"s steelies or something ungodly heavy? otherwise there would be a small noticable difference.

14s are steelies. If there's a difference I loose it in traction with the shitty tires. I have a boosted D w/ a super-small turbo so boost is almost instant.

alright my drop is 1.7 in the rear and 1.9 in the front. . i'm thinking i should get the 15's. . tires would probably be cheaper in the long run anyway and i think my stock wheels are ?14"? so atleast 15 is a little bigger. . the drop looks good on my stock wheels right now so it should look a lil better on these

in all honesty i think 17s are to big for civics. 15s and 16s are perfect. i just ordered some 15x6.5 black rota circut 8s with polished lip for my black ek coupe they are light and look good as well and price was very good $430 shipped http://www.jlbmotorsports.com/ im not a fan of all black rims the silver lip sets it apart and makes it stand out.
Don't worry about wheels bc there gona "slow you down". Its not like youll feel like your towing a trailer around everywhere. I woudlnt get anything bigger than 16s. Anything bigger looks like your driving a monster truck. Do what you want, its your car.
This really is an appearence question, and everyone is gonna say "do what you like" duhhhh, damn liberals, haha.
But anyway, I think those rims are...too out there, they stand out too much, like boy racer wheels. You want em to look clean, and make the car look better, not just be a shiny piece of metal that shows nasty brakes under it. 16s look great on a EK, and 17s are cool, but look better if the car is lowered, so thats pushin it. Don't worry about weight, its not enough to slow you down noticably big time, cause bigger rims take smaller, lighter tires
you should look around at rims, and learn about offset, how far it sticks out, that affects how the car looks, and a car with rims that stick out more than stock is gonna give it a wider stance, and better grip in the corners.
my rims are 21lbs, tires are sticky and fat, its NOT gonna be oh so much harder to turn, people exaggerate. It will be a firmer turn, but will it be "more work" no, its not hard, and after a week, wont notice the difference.
205/45 on 16s does look good.
YES people, 18s can be cool, but those are for show cars, big chrome 18s on a slammed car. Looks cool, but unconfortable, and so on a street car, i advise against 18" rims.

I have a 2002 Civic Si. I upgraded from standard 15" wheels to 17" Enkei Silver RS-6. My car is black and I think a black wheel is too dark. Stick with silver. 17' will handle better than 16" and certainly look cooler. They are heavier, though. I lowered my car with Eibach lowering springs. Helped the handling alot.
My wheels are for sale at 1/2 the new price along with some great Toyo Proxes4 tires. Let me know if you are interested.

well 15's with tires i want is going to cost me $733. . and 16's with the same tires is going to cost me $850. . plus i want to keep in mind how the wheel size will affect my spedometer being off or incorrect. I'm torn bewteen these two it's like trying to decide if i want a blonde girl or a red head!
