Default the static won't stop

I've been getting shocked for a month now each and every time I step out of my coupe.

WTF? Why won't it go away?

My hands are always afraid to close the door now.

Certain brands of tires will cause excessive static charge build up.(like Michellin) So will certain types of fabric and low humidity.

You could look for one of those static straps that were popular in the 70's and attach one under the car where it won't be too noticeable. Or use your elbow to make contact with the door first. It hurts less.

Help yourself out of the car by holding onto the door frame as you get out. It keeps the electrical potential from building up between you and the chassis as you slide off the seat.
You might try either Scotch Guard or Static Guard, both may help lessen the effect.
Anyway, it won't last much longer, with the advent of Spring (and it's subsequent rise in humidity) the condition will stop until next winter.

In the interim, try the two I've suggested. And most importantly, heed the warnings posted recently on gas pumps with regards to static discharge during refueling.
