Default 99 si engine problems?? help me out

ok i got a 99 si,,,its been colder than usual out lately..so im not sure if thats the cause..anyway heres the problem..

i always warm my car up before driving it

when im parked and the car is on still my car idles wierd..it will chill at 800-1000 and then drop to about 200 or 100 and feel like it wants to stall..its been doing this for a couple weeks..its stalled maybe 2 times and also when im driving and i push on the gas pedal a little bit,, my car kinda starts bucking(like when u get shitty start in first gear) its really hard to explain. but the best way i can explain it is that its bucking kinda..when im cruising at anywhere from 10-60 mph and when i push the gas down harder it doesnt do it...i dont know any other way to explain it ..it only does it when i lightly hold the gas pedal down..just to cruise.anyone ever have this problem?? could it be the cold weather..its never done this before..any help is appreciated

i was having a similar problem with my si, and so i checked my compression which turned out to be all gravy. so i checked my dizzy's cap and rotor and found that they were nice and oxydized. so after changing them and adding some new spark plugs my bogging issues went away. mine was so bad, at one point, that if i released the gas pedal at idle the car would fall to low rpms and eventually die. check you cap and rotor, that should fix it. if not have a compression test done, just in case. good luck.

well before you go and change out your dizzy, cap, wires and plugs, you can test to make sure all your wires are getting a spark and starting from there. troubleshoot your problem before you go replacing your whole ign. system. im sure there are threads here to test for sparks from your dist...

I have a 00 si and usually when it starts to do that its because of the plugs. When your stopped at a light do you notice that the car wants to stall out??

I would say see how it runs with the new plugs and then go from there.

My car has the same problem as well in reverse, like I bogg down in reverse and when I give it gas it buckles to...I have changed the spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, and rotor and it has helped out slightly but not completely so i would also like to know how to solve this...maybe timing is off
