ITR Rear Upper Control Arm Q.
Previous owner of my car screwed in the 2 rear upper control arm bolts at the wrong angle and screwed up the threads on the nut holding the bolt in.... that nut is on the other side of the subframe and is not accessible from the outside ... at least i dont think it is... whenever i go over a bump the upper control arm taps the wheel well and makes a super annoying click... would drilling and filling in the nut with thread repair compound thats rated for upt o 128 ft lbs of torque work or would i have to use a tap n die set with a threaded insert ? Is that reliable enough for the amount of stress it has to endure... if not how do i fix that nut?
yeah youre pretty much screwed if those threads are messed up. (hmm... no pun intended). have you tried chasing the thread with a tap?
ive heard of ppl having to cut a hole to get to it and weld a new nut on. sucks.

I would helicoil it and retap -- but I don't exactly know how strong that is. I've heard most people say it's stronger than the original threads.

you can onyl reach those from the outside but they are easy to retap, just make sure you have the right size when you tap it and you will be fine had to do that to 2 of mine as well
