CEL 61 gone after new 02 sensor - still misfiring on 1 and 2
Hey guys, the other night I got a CEL for 61, 71,72,73,74, those are for primary o2 sensor as well as a misfire on cylinders 1- 4. I put in a new primary o2 sensor this morning and code 61 is gone but I still get misfires on cyl 1 and 2. The idle also surges between 1000 and 1500 rpm when Im at a stop. I initialized my vafc settings, since they were a bit leaned out, just to be on the safe side but that didnt help. I checked my cyl 1 spark plug and it looked like it had some white oxidation on it which I was told meant I was running lean. If anyone has any input on this please chime in. I'm not sure if the surging idle and misfires are all related to the o2 sensor, but it just seems like a hell of a coincidence for everything to happen all at once. Anyway, any feedback is appreciated.

PS this is an 01 SH: Intake, TB, prospeed header, test pipe, stock exhaust, vafc

stock exhaust but you have atest pipe!? hmmm....
there are a couple things that i know that could cause a missfire:
spark plug not connected properly
distributor not connected/powered
clogged egr ports (i'm not sure why, but i know its true)
crappy gas
i'm sure there there are more reasons, these are just the ones i know of and have had to deal with in the past personally.

You probably need to do a valve lash adjustment....I had the same problem as you, and then I did a valve adjustment, and it cured the problem. Well at least until I accidently downshifted to the wrong gear, so I think I now have slightly bent valves.....Try doing a valve adjustment, and see what that does for you

that plug is worn due to excessive voltage in the ignition system. Hence why the electrodes have "peaks".
Check to make sure you are making a good connection with all your wires on the dizzy cap and make sure no wires are corroded at any end. Dont forget the coil wire.
Plugs and wires should be replaced if you havent already done so.

OK so I topped off the coolant today and that did not fix the idle surge. When my room mate and I unplugged the MAP sensor the surging stopped, but when I swapped ours it turned that the MAP sensor was NOT the problem. When I had the intake off i plugged the hole on the TB for the IACV and the surging stopped momentarily, but after i cleaned the screen it didn't aleviate the problem. Im pretty sure its not a vacuum leak because once in a blue moon the idle surge stops where the engine just revs higher than usually and vibrates...but if it WAS a vacuum leak it would surge always. ANyway, if anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

if those are the NGK v-power plugs, the top of the electrode should be flat with a slight V cut into its surface. If this is in the fact the plug, it is worn and needs to be replaced. If its a platinum or iridium plug, it still looks like *** and should be replaced.
update - so I just swapped the distributor and put on a new coil and the problem still persists. The only thing we still have to trouble shoot is the TPS sensor, and valve lash. This is getting really annoying very quickly.
your plugs are toast but thats not the cause of the surging. check the tps and read the how to on here about the valve adjustment. some pretty swell guy did a great job on it *pat pat*
