got on it a little bit in 2nd gear, shifted at maybe 5500 rpm into 3rd and BANG, all hell broke loose.

anyone in the upstate NY area got a CHEAP cable b series trans for sale??

on with the pics, this is all stuff i picked up from the road, the car that it happened to is in my sig

notice the spider gear that came right outa the diff!!!





and this is one of the bolts that hold the two halves of the case together. it broke pretty damned hard.

the car was on the road for less than 24 hours when the tranny went. ive put less than 200 miles on the car since ive owned it. previous owner said the tranny was PERFECT when he sold me the car.....

There are some cable trannies around here but S. PA isnt anywhere close to NY. Good luck finding one soon.

thanks guys, less than 24 HOURS AND 200 MILES!!! WTF!! and the first 100 miles i had the car it wasnt even boosted!!!

 

it had to be damaged befor you got it, you didnt attempt any launches on drags or anything? mine did the same thing in my DA but i launched at the track on drags and the tranny had 165k on it

 

i smell sabotage bart


edit: I just farted, thats what i was smelling

 

i didnt lauch at all!! i mean, i spun the tires a few times, but that was kinda inevitable with the roads being salty and the car being boosted. i never even got to beat on it yet!!! i drove it visit a buddy and it exploded. u think the previous owner should pay me for this??

 

lol.....i kept my old diff as a paper weight, it works awesome

i highly doubt someones gonna offer or agree to fix that, you could just go over to his house and send him a "message"

hes in jersey, im in NY. we're many miles apart. i know he wont offer to pay for it, but i really wish i would have had some indication. it just LET GO.

 

no need to apologize yo, yer cool in my book. this is the second DA diff ive blown. my old boosted 91 GS let one go while i was doing a burnout Xenocron can vouch for that!! thats how i met him!

 

yeah thats crazy, i would prolly have to say he had some sort of sticky tires on that thing and hurt it to the point where it was barely hangin on. i just split apart my trans from my DC and the diff spider gears were worn and chattering bad, so bad that it trashed my diff bearings and my drivers side wheel bearing.

 

damn that sucks with yours dan....

wish that i found out by taking it apart during down time instead of AS SOON AS i put it on the road

 

yeah i would have never noticed if i hadnt taken it apart, doesnt really matter tho im replacing everything anyway, it does suck theres no warning signs with that ****
