DOHC VTEC starter problem?
Well i just got my new engine together and in the car this week and today was the day to "fire in the hole" but when you turned the key on all that happened was a clicking noise. Well we traced it back to the starter. We unbolted the starter and held it out of the tranny and turned the key over and you could watch the gear engage and spin really really slow. So we tried my friends starter out of his car and it fired right up! So my question is do any of you guys know what part of the starter could be malfunctioning to make it where the gear engages really slow and doesnt have enough juice to turn the engine over. Any info is a big help. Just wanting to see if there is a part thats cheaper that i could replace than having to buy another starter first. Thanks again!!
Take it apart and see, clean it as you go.
Mine quit working, I took it apart, cleaned it, made sure all the contacts were good and clean, and its worked trouble free since.
How many miles on the starter? Where did it come from?

1994 Del Sol VTEC. 100,000+ miles ???? not really sure on mileage. Pulled out my drivetrain in october so it just sat wrapped up for 4 months and then i just re-installed it and now its acting up. You think i should pull it apart and clean everything???
