EF Hatchback B16 Swap Problems
Alright heres my issue, about a month ago I purchased a 1990 Civic HB with a JDM B16A Swap already in it. The car was running ok when I first got it and I always used 93 pump gas. Well for some reason the person who did the swap didn't use 2 Oxgen sensors instead there was only one and the sensor that is suppose to be hooked up to the left side of the exhaust manifold is in but has a dettached wire. The ECU was flashing codes also but people told me I only need one oxygen sensor but the thing is I have a PR3 ECU and I'm pretty sure you need 2 one-wire oxygen sensors. The car isn't all that fast either because I can't keep up with SOHC Del Sols. Also flashed on the ECU was a VTEC Pressure Switch Error Code but I fixed that by reseting the ECU. Now the ECU only flashes once and I think that is the O2 Sensor Error Code. But I don't have any idea what to do with the car. So If you guys have any suggestions please share thanks alot.
Now my car is flashing Error Code 6 which is ECT Sensor and I don't know where that is located. I don't know how to fix it either. I swear this car is weird after I made the first post I went to go check on the car and It's flashing more codes. I heard that if the ECU can't regognize any sensors it goes into back-up mode which diasbles your VTEC. I don't know what thats about but can someone help me find the ECT sensor? Thanks

sounds like the guy dont have vtec wired. you should check the wiring see if maybe something came undone or something. wiring is huge when owning a swaped engine! my friend has a crx with b16 and it ran like a ls motor non vtec we sourced it back to a wire problem now she pulls!

Yes it will bolt up.
And B16A have no vtec pull, only noise. Yes it is making alot of power but it wont have that kick and pull. My friend was impressed by the kick of my stock H22 in my prelude because his B16A didnt get that. All B16s I've been in have no kick and then pull.

Check the wiring. Also see if you can hunt down a service manual for the car the engine was originally from...in other words, if that engine's from a 96-00Si, get a manual for that. Check autozone for a basic Haynes manual, but full service manuals rock out. Got one for my car
Your best bet is to drive around for a little while. After some time, check all the codes and look all of them up. Then work on solving ONE of the errors. Once solved, reset the ECU, and repeat the process until everything's done. Service manuals will usually tell you what to do to solve each error code.
My car threw a 6 and 16. I don't remember what the 6 was, but 16 was my fuel injectors. I threw in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to see if it would solve the code 16 problem. After I emptied the tank of gas, I filled up again, reset the ECU, drove around a while, and checked my ECU later...both problems were solved. Keep in mind, you'll usually have to drive about 250-300miles before a computer can pick up all errors codes after being reset.
Good luck, and keep us updated. Hope we can help you.
