Default Mobil 1 Delvac

I just got some Mobil 1 Delvac 5w-40. It was the only 5w-40 oil I could find locally. Its basically made for diesel engines, but on ExxonMobil's website it says it can be used for high-performance gasoline engines. Does anybody have any experience with the 5w-40 "delvac"?

its an excellent oil with a great additive pack, perfectly fine to run in you motor if its not to cold outside, if you run it in winter just give your car a little more warm up time

Thank you. Do you know what the specific differences are between the Delvac 5w-40 and regular Mobil 1 in 5w-40 (couldn't find standard Mobil 1 in said weight)

It's good stuff. The additives are aimed at diesels, though. I'd look into how well it might be for high rpm. Might be issues with foaming and shear in a race engine.
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ might be a good place to find the info you want.

Thawley -- Not an oil guy, but I've talked to enough of them to know there really ARE different oils for different applications...

Actually, on bobistheoilguy, they are saying that they are actually two different formulations. I wasn't referring to the SUV blend--is there "regular" Mobil 1 available in 5w-40? Also, does Mobil make any racing oils under their name?
