Default Just bought a DOHC ZC!

Well I blew my stock d15 around christmas time and finally got around to buyin a new engine for the hatch.

I decided to go with the DOHC ZC for cost and ease of swapping. Right now I'm gathering information for replacement parts for the ZC and also problems I might run into during the swap.

I'll be running a PM6 ECU and the ZC 5-speed transmission. I plan on sending my harness to Rywire to have them convert it for the ZC since I don't want to mess with MPFI conversion.

I have a DX, what are my options as far as axles go? I found hybrid axles at raxles.com but they are pretty expensive. Let me know if I have any other options besides raxles.

All the gaskets and seals are going to be replaced on the engine. I might do a mild build up. Engine will be cleaned and painted before going in. I do want to boost the ZC after I get it in and running right and heard the ZC hold up well to boost.

If there is anything else I need to know about the swap please let me know, this will be my 1st honda swap

try finding the axles at a junkyard, find a rex or civic that got totaled from the back or something, and just jack the front axles

My stock axles are fine, but from what I've read the stock axles will not work with the jdm ZC 5-speed transmission.

I've read that 90-93 teg axles work but I've also read that one side was too short.

Aren't 90-93 Teg axles the obvious choice?

I'm pretty sure it has the intermediate shaft. I guess I'll see when the engine comes. I might even luck out and get the axles because he had the engine imported and was going to seperate the engine/tranny and I told him I wanted them both so he said he would just crate the whole thing up and sell it to me the same way he got it.

90-93 integra axles will work with dust shield removed..I heard that civic wagon 4wd axles will work also..And something about on some cars you may need a 85 accord(EFI model) axle .

EDIT-- Check out this link..http://www.zcspeed.com/swaps/swapinfo.html

One more thing I need to know. My car is badged as a DX but it has the 4-speed manual trans in it. I've read that only the STD models had the 4-speed manual the DXs had the 5-speed.

is this true? Because if it is I have to upgrade my hubs right?

So my car is a STD? The car is all original, clean title and everything. Why does it have a DX badge if its a STD?

Yeah if it has a 4spd manual it's a std..I cant see someone putting in a 4psd tranny with those different hubs and axles like that..Maybe someone put the DX Badge on? Go to carfax.com and run the vin# it will tell you the model for free if you're not sure..

I've thought about it, but seems more work than its worth. Rywire sells the std/dx to zc harness for $160.

Its not that its hard....its just that I'm lazy and don't want to mess with it. Plus I only have a couple hours each day that I can mess with it and I'd rather not be doing wiring.

wait... hold up

u need to get si hubs for doing a zc swap into a STD ?

im guessing that the swap will be basically the same as doing a d15 vtec into an STD, so will i need different hubs as well?

i was told by about 5 people that you dont need new axles or hubs, but 1 guy said it axles blew out on him like 3 months after the swap. so ya....

If he plans on using the zc tranny, he will need to swap his axles too. If he is using anything but std axles, the hubs need changed.

If he was using a dx or si tranny, he could just reuse his std axles and hubs.
