Grinding when shifting
02 RSX Type S. As stated, when I shift from 1st to 2nd gear, it makes a slight grinding noise (it only does it from 1st to 2nd mind you). I took it to the Acura dealership a couple of months ago and they said it was normal and only did it when the engine was cold. However, even when the engine is up to temp, it will still do it in a certain rpm range (mainly 3500-5500). Any help would be very much appreciated.
i have the same problem with my rsx too...when im on the highway and i shiift from 6 to 4 and then try to go to 5th it grinds too..and when my engine is cold 1st to 2nd grinds too
You can try a number of things:
1. Adjust the clutch pedal pushrod that goes into the clutch master cylinder underneath the dash.
2. Switch to a different transmission fluid. Redline MTL and Pennzoil Synchromesh are popular.
3. Switch to a stainless steel performance clutch line.

it's definitely not normal. make sure you have honda MTF in there and insist they fix it under warantee. Print this out and bring it to them.

Mine just started about 3 weeks ago with my 06 Type-S. Some of the guys on CRSX said to just warm up the tranny from 1-2nd before you leave. Just push in the clutch and swtich the gears 1st-2nd numerous times and that should warm it up so you won't have grinds. I haven't tried it yet, but im willing to. My dealer also told me its normal and it will go away as the tranny gets used to switching gears
......Good luck with yours man.

Yeah alot of people on clubrsx.com are having these problems. I get it sometimes as well. Alot of people have seen a noticeable improvement when they switch over to redline mtf. Im going to do this when I hit 20k miles.
