would a check engine light go on if the ECU is burnt?
What do you mean by burnt? As in set on fire? Charred, or some of the wires? I would imagine any amount of Fire + Ecu = bad news. Can you jump it and watch the light still?
i dont think you would get a check engine light if the ecu was broken/damaged in anyway, if i remember correctly this happened to one of my hondas. i would go to check for an engine code and i would either get nothing at all or a solid CEL, unforntionatly i cannot remember which it was. i am sure someone can clear this up. Bump.
im running a JDM gsr ecu and vtec doesnt really hit and secondaries dont even come into play, and then i switched to USDM gsr ecu and it ran awesome (on a JDM b18c)

If you mean "burnt" as a meaning for "fried" ecu, then most likely it would run poorly, and/or possibly throw up a CEL. It all depends what happened to the particular ECU and how badly it was damaged. Whether or not the ecu was JDM or USDM is not as important as the condition of the ecu.

the jdm ecu runs great and feels a lil more torque then usdm but vtec engages a little awkward and 2ndary butterfly only engage sometimes.
what is the code?? maybe you have a vtec soliniod code or something..cant really help ya here..have you tried to check the code and still just get a solid CEL??
