RM8 kicker 8" midbass in crx
I got a set of these kicker 8" midbass speakers and would like to stick them in the stock rear speaker loaction on my 91 honda crx. Does anyone know any sites that sells 8" rear speaker brackets for the crx or how I can make some custom mounts that allows me to use the stock grills?
I was thinking the same thing making some rings out of MDF but whats a good way to mount the rings so i can still use the stock grills? Do u think I should just make some small fiberglass boxes behind the stock location and cover it with the stock grills?
because i dont got alot of time to work on my car right now and the rear location seems like an easy fit. I know it would sound better with custom kick panels for my kicker resolution 6.5" components and the RMB8s in the doors but ill have to wait until summer for that...this should sound ok for now

Umm... doesn't really look like they're going to fit just like that. But some relatively simple fiberglassing will solve the problem easily. Let me know if you need help with that, I'm in the Cities too
Yeah I could really use some help...it seems like u have worked with fiberglass before. I'm just getting started I have been doing alot of reading on the subject but dont really have the power tools to do it.

http://home.comcast.net/~solturbo/crx.html</TD></TR></TABLE> Well I would still pull the speaker and oem mounting bracket and see if the Kicker will physically fit inside, if it does then I can't see needing anything more then a MDF plate mounted to the stock location, maybe even using the stock mounting screws and mounting the Kicker from behind instead of from the front.

hopefully so
Anyway just installing the speakers doesn't look problematic at all, 15 minutes at most (hopefully
). But, as we all know, with the car audio "If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something" © http://www.murphys-laws.com
Anyway, I'd still be happy to help. Sometime around the weekend maybe? A spair pair of eyes and hands plus some power tools wouldn't hurt imo

btw, FCM, I'd be grateful to get your opinion on the subject. If the 8 inches are installed right, do you think that the guy would get a good output without a "legitimate" sub? The reason I'm asking is because I've seen and heard a bunch of "no sub" systems (well, these days 8"s are mistakingly not taken seriously), and some of them sounded absolutely gourgeous. That's why I'm so eager to help the guy out, because I'm really curious to see if we can achieve any serious results with those two Kickers in the back. I've installed a couple of 8 inches in the doors of a euro m3 e36 BMW last summer (it was an absolute HELL, took me 5 days of hard work) but the result!... i couldn't believe

</TD></TR></TABLE> Yes you can get very good results, speaker installation has a lot to do with, and of coarse what speakers are used.
In my 94 LS all I have is an Alpine HU and 4 Eclipse 6.5" 2ways, [tweeters disabled on the rears, all the time and effort went into the speaker install, fronts are mounted to custom MDF speaker housings, [replacing the oem stock ones] the rears are installed in custom MDF and fiberglass cabinets, extensive Dynamating was done in the doors, and a fair amount in the rear, both sets are in stock location and behind stock grills using all stock wiring, except for a foot or so inside the rear cabinets, [speaker wire] and the HUs constant power is wired directly to the batt. On more then one occasion, when demoing on what can be done without a sub, I have been accused of having a hidden amp or sub or both someplace in car, Those customers I tell, if you find an off-board amp or sub you can have the car, some have looked, pretty good, as they were convinced they had to be there. LOL no amps no subs.
