High Boost w/ SAFC II and MSD 6AL BTM - Can It Work? OBDO Crx
Just to start off, I am computer illiterate and change my setups to much to try and understand Turboedit and I dont trust it.
Ive got a 89 Crx Si with a d16a6 motor, slightly built bottom end with headwork.
I plan on running 15psi on this block and 20 psi on my nice built block. I would like to use the safc 2 and an msd 6 btm.
I really dont know what to ask other than does it work...
I know soething about the afc advances your timing a good bit but that will be reversed with the msd btm right?
I already have the msd btm and I already have a chipped turboedit ecu and burner, but id like to sell them to buy an AFC unit, just for the ease of use factor.
I also have a twintec digital display wideband that i will be using to tune with. i really dont know what to ask yet other than if it can be done and fairly reliably for a nice street car on 93 octane.
What problems would I see? Im sure I'll have more questions when people try and help me out

Says I can do it with a gm 3 bar sensor and my 450's and an safc II, I dont understand though

I say stay away from safc or the AFC HACK **** search for that and read every post then ull realise its better to get a (uberdata crome )chip ecu and set of bilg injector safer and very reliable so end of question
Search the forums and learn about engine management before you sell all of that stuff you already have.
Using uberdata or crome is a way more reliable method of tuning especially compared to the "afc hack".

I cannot tune turboedit and do not understand it. I never will and I change setups so often that I cannot afford the tuning
Id like to run the afc with the msd and a wideband if its possible
Also, do you just run a 3 bar map sensor? or do you use the stock honda one?
Also what is the difference between the first and second safc's?

ebay turbo manifold and now an SAFC.........come on man...you dont want your car to be relialbe do you? you always come on here asking questions...and when poeple answer your questions you ignore everything they have to say anyways.
the afc2 is more of a pain in the *** than the first one...i hate that stupid **** it has. get hondata crome neptune SOMETHING. sell that afc and btm.

to my knowledge u cant run the afc hack effectivly past 11lbs, besides that i assume your gonna be runn some ~550+cc injectors with your setup and your gonna need something to control those. just bit the bullet and go turboedit....

You can run it definetely past 11 psi, I seen a setup myself running 17psi but he blew his motor cause he didnt have a btm or any ignition management, i know it can go that high
I dont trust myself with turboedit, just cant do it

You don't listen to anything we tell you, and when we give you info, you say oh blah blah blah I know I can do it, so go do it.
Aren't you the guy who was asking why his tranny woulnd't go into reverse or 5th, and then said that the tranny didn't have fluid in it??

I listen, I dont follow one persons opinions
I dont see anyone telling me why this setup will not work, nor any info on hwo to make it work
Which is why I made the post

It might work, but it probably won't last long. And with all of the tuners all over the place (tuner directory) why the hell woulnd't you just chip it and use crome\uberdata? Or just get a wideband and learn to do it yourself. Like you said, your going to be changing setups so much because they are all going to blow the hell up

Cause im in ******* canada!
Nobody does this ****, turbos are non existant, driving to the states and paying a lot of money and a day or two off work isnt always an option
This i can do myself and do it quickly

wtf r u talking about, there are lots of ppl in canada who drive boosted honda. i'm from vancouver and i daily drive a 450whp honda, so i have no idea what u r talking about being non existant. hell i have a couple friends with boosted hondas aswell.
if i were u, i'd find a tunner close to u and get it done right, or else it'll cost u ur engine.

Bc and Quebec are semi into it, still al very limited ammount of tuners, and even less that know turboedit
There are few to none here and I dotn trust them
I want to know how to make an afc 2 and msd btm work

I just read this massive thread about using a gm 3 bar with the afc and dsm 450's and it allows you to start at zero % fuel and you end up at about -10% after tuning
I could just buy an afcII and run the dsm 450's, gm 3 bar and tune with the wideband
This would solve all safc timing increases wouldnt it? Check the thread if you already havent

Where in Canada are you?Everybody and there dog has a turbo Honda and Uber,Crome or Turbo edit.It is not hard to learn.Buy a wideband LC1 for 199 and get a chipped ecu.expletive getting it tuned by someone else.I had never touched it in my life and I just bought the gear did the tuning myself by reading on PGMFI.org etc.It will probably be harder to tune with that hack setup then with Turbo Edit anyways. There is a reason eveywhere you post it people tell you the same thing.

first of all
u dont know what u are doing
READ READ READ, and when u understand what u getting into, then turbo ur car, unless u want to set a record on fast a Honda can blow
i ran the VAFC hack witha MSD 6 BTM for 8 mths, and theres no way u can tell ME, u can go past 11 psi.. the MAP sensor cant read anything over that, i hit a brick wall everytime i overboosted to 11 or 12 and the car will literally fall on its face
telling me u dont like turboedit, is like telling me u rather go out to a steakhouse and cut a steak with a butter knife
get real, learn what u getting into, learn what it takes to develop the power... u are a fool thinking u want to run 15 and then 20 psi on a SEMI built block... what u mean with a semi built block??.... u either got rods and pistons at least or nothing at all...
i have been on ur shoes and i had to research for 9 mths before i went turbo... theres lots to learn
i did all right and still blew the motor at only 11 psi and 235whp
do me a favor
- set some realistic goals
- learn what u getting into
- get the real and nesesary parts
- and most important : DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME

but u trust a afc hack even though its proven to fail?
Dont be lazy, goto http://www.pgmfi.org and do your homework, or be ready to post a thread, "Look at my destroyed motor"

want a better map sensor, get the 2.5 BAR motorola
a lot cheaper ($25) and more accurate for OBDO

people use the 3 bar all the time and all the settings with the afc are in that thread, seems prety bithcin to me
i dont think you even need an msd if you get that working right?
