Have ?s for those w/ Big Brakes.
This is mainly for those who have ABS and particularly those who've used some FastBrakes upgrades. Still interested in hearing your answers, regardless, though; just note your equipment, in any case.
How many have just bigger front upgrades?
How many did bigger fronts and rears?
Do you believe that your car stops better?
Do you think that your upgrades cause premature engagment of your ABS (= longer stopping distances)?
Any other comments?
This is to get a definitive picture of what you do and do not get when upgrading braking systems; a sort of FAQ, based on user input.

There have been a few posts about this in the competition forum. Most of the people said they didn't feel like they stopped any faster. The only thing they noticed is that there was less fade due to more mass to dissapate heat. I really don't knowabout the ABS though.
I've been reading them.
However, the ITR stops much better than the GSR, so better/bigger brakes must do something, even if there is a limit to what they can do.
I'm still most interested in getting a feel for how bigger brakes affect ABS and vice versa.

A lot of the this can be attributed to the Type-R having better tires than the GS-R. It would be an interesting comparision to see stopping distances with the both cars with the same tire.
Larger brakes should have no effect on the ABS. My brother-in-law had the Type-R spec front brakes on his GS-R and the stock rear brakes and he didn't have any problems with the ABS. BTW, he also drove this car on the track (ie. track events) and the brakes performed flawlessly.
Has the ABS unit been the same for all Integras (G3 and excluding the ITR) over the production run?
i got the ITR spec fastbrakes with EBC green stuff pads and the 11.4" rear kit.....my car stops WAY better with those than it did with the stockers...and i had the EBC green stuff on the front stock calipers...WAY better!

I did for a few months, then I finally decided to go with a rear upgrade as well since it is claimed to prevent nose diving under hard braking, and sure enough it did help a lot.
How many did bigger fronts and rears?
glad I finally did, there is a noticable difference.
Do you believe that your car stops better?
BETTER? yes. does that mean in a shorter distance? nope, but it feels better, I feel more and the brakes do NOT suffer from problems with heat buildup like my oem GSR setup did at the track or hard street driving. I have the 2 piece directional cooling vane equipped 11" rotors that are 1" thick with an aluminum hat, from fastbrakes

NO WAY, they dont seem to effect ABS at all and I must say with the big brakes, ABS and AO32R slicks on a hot day the repeated braking G forces are incredible... I would bet I can get more G force out of hard braking than I can out of cornering or acceleration
Any other comments?
ITR sized brakes sure are purdy, they fit nicely under 15" wheels which alllow you to keep costs down for tires and wheels.... and the oem ITR rotor/caliper kit can be serviced with oem honda parts, thats probably the best part.
