Default Suggestions on Malfunctioning Hatch Latch

Used to be normal 98+ hatch, unlock the doors, the hatch is openable, but evidently in its age the hatch no longer is unlockable via remote/power locks, so i need to insert the key, turn it to its unlocked position and open while its turned, or it wont open, good for theives i supposed, but quite a hassle for myself.

anyone experienced similiar problems or know what kind of thing i would need to do, do i need to buy a new motor for the unlocker in the hatch or can i oil something to fix it (wishful thinking..i know)

Thanks in Advance.

i don't think so. cause on my 2000 there's a little latch piece that i gotta push to the side and then lift up. on my friend's 1994, that piece isnt there.

mine is weird too. a few times it wouldn't lock on. so i had to slam it a bit harder than usual to get it to latch. sorry i can't help u with ur problem. good luck

98 and up I believe had the different style opening hatch.. 97 and previous had the cable to pull from the inside.
I guess just make sure youre slamming ti shut all the way.. Sometimes mine wouldnt close all teh way and wouldnt lock/unlock.
