LS-T 275whp. Will Exedy Stage 1 cut it???
I'm building a B18a for boost to go in my 4th gen sedan. 9:1 SRP pistons, Eagle rods, t3/t4 turbo (haven't bought turbo yet), new LS pumps, gaskets, etc. LS tranny
Stock rebuilt head
I plan on running about 275 whp. I bought this Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit before the turbo plans cropped up. It's supposed to be good for 166 ft-lbs tq. Will the LS-T make significantly more than that at 275whp? Are their claims conservative enough so that maybe I could use it anyway?
Scanned through the LS-T thread but it's all chit chat now.....and I'm 56k

I wouldn't trust that Pressure plate w/an LS at that WHP level due to the fact that the LS w/ that much WHP will be producing nearly the same amount of TRQ. The disc will most likely suffice but, I'd look into a new setup just to be safe.

I'd go w/ a lil more. Those damn LS's make trq. My ACT HD pressure plate started slipping on mine at about 220whp. I had a CM stg.3 on the last setup and it was up near 275whp (trapped 113 mph) w/ the LS and a lil more w/ the GSR (trapping 120mph+ mulitple times) and it held fine for a long time. The new owner is still rocking it as a matter of fact. I'm either going w/ an Action setup or another CM for my current build.

Two things:
With your set up and if you get the right turbo, you will be able to push 350 whp and around 305 tq. Think about it, it is not that hard as long as you have a nice tuner.
As far as the clutch goes, I do not know what your budge is but if you have some extra cash, just buy a competition clutch - stage IV. It will last you and will be worries free

Yeah for shure stage on turbo
I made 240 whp w/ the slipping clutch suck I should be getting around 270 but yea
Get a stage 2 with unsprung 6 puck that will hold up pretty good
I think stage 4 will be overkill specially on daily driven lol good luck

my exedy stage 2 three puck clutch on a turbo gsr 300whp gave out after about 5 months of boosting around and going to the track, for a lil more money, like other said go with a stage 3, im sure u will want to up the boost in the future anyways

You think or you know?
Ever since I went turbo, I have had a stage IV clutch in my car. First was the ClutchMasters stage IV and then the Competition IV. Back in the day when I was researching for a clutch, most of the people like yourself stated the same. "I think a stage 4 will be over killed" or "it will not be streetable"
BULLSHIT!
My car is more streetable than anybody elses here and I always had the option to improve my WHP without worrying about my clutch.
Just my .02 cents ........

I have Exedy Stage 1 in my Integra when it had the Greddy turbo kit running 11psi, and my clutch held up fine until I tried to put drag ratials and take it to the track. Hope you have fun with the new setup!

Well sounds like this clutch has to go.....would rather do it right the 1st time.

^ Do these stage 3 & 4 clutches inherently last a shorter amount of time?
And is there anything that is especially compatible with an ACT Streetlite flywheel....or does it make no difference?

My CM stage IV lasted me a year or so, beating on it. Finally, the cluth disk went and I bought a competetion clutch disk stage IV (4 puck). I have it up to this day.

yea...its defiently true that people over exaggerate clutches as being overkill....i daily drive an ACT HD pressure plate with act 6 puck unsprung disk and it feels fine ...like a stock clutch after a while...so far the clutch has about 15k on it and still has some good life left
I have the Exedy stage 2 in my car on my ls-t... 330/270 and it's slipping like crazy after only 8 months of driving. I would get a 4 puc or something more aggressive.
