Default O2 Sensor

Where is the O2 sensor located on the 93 Accord EX? Was looking for a heads up for when I install my new exhaust as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer.... Can't wait till spring finally gets here!

So the header that was sent to me must be for the LX or DX...The hole for the O2 is on the header itself, it is to screw in on the right side almost where the header bolts to the down pipe.....How do I rectify this without sending it back? Check out the link below here....

I guess you could just plug the hole. But it would be nice to have the right one. I don't think it would hurt anything though. (if you pluged it)

It's already plugged. What's that going to do to gas mileage and is the CEL going to be on?

It would definitely make the CEL come on. You may be able to get one of those whatchamacallits that send the ECU a fake signal. ( to make the ecu think everything is normal). I have no idea what they are called, or where to get one though. sorry.

So now you will have no 02 sensor at all? No other sensor port on the exhaust? I doubt if extending the wires from where the sensor was to where the header is would work like it's supposed to. (probably get a different reading, but don't know for sure)

So pretty much I'm up a creek if I wanted to do the job this week...

I don't want the CEL to be on...so I guess I could just use the factory manifold and just start with the racing cat and go from there till I can get the seller to replace the header with a correct one....but was hoping to get-r-done all this week on my day off...but o-well you'll have that...so its CEL on or not complete job..

From where the sensor port is on the header, it looks to me like it would only be reading from the one cylinder (one pipe). Doesn't look right.

Some say it effects gas mileage, some say it doesn't. 19mpg does sound awful though. I think it does effect mileage (air/ fuel mixture).

The loss of the oxygen sensor, for both the pre '96 (OBD1) and post '96 (OBD2) will force both systems to go into Fail Safe. And although the vehicle will run, it won't run properly; and milage will most definitely suffer.
Both Engine management Systems rely on the O2 sensor to gauge where the a/f ratio is (as opposed to where it's supposed to be), and without it, the ecm locks in failsafe - a condition which is pretty much a limp-home mode.
Ideally, to be most effective, the o2 sensor(s) are placed where they read the average output from all 4 cylinders.
On most aftermarket headers, that would be the collector, just before the rear-most pipe flange.
This is not to say that the O2 location (one pipe) wouldn't work (it would have something to sample, but it isn't optimum (and that would be slightly counter-productive now, wouldn't it? )
