5th And Reverse GONE! Shifter Just Wont Go Over There WTF!! HELP!(car hasnt been moved)
Ive got my car sitting right now, its an 88 crx si with a d16a6 and stock tranny. When i put the motor in (used tranny/rebuilt motor/ 6 puck clutch) I was able to definetely put the shifter into reverse easily, i remember doing it cause I like the noise
Today I go back to my car to get some ****, this is 3 weeks later and its now -15 degrees out and the cars coverred with snow
Keep in mind this car hasnt been started at all, ever since Ive gotten it. So I sit down and 1-4 are easy and probably what they should feel like when stock, but 5th and reverse are just like theres a wall there, theres nothing blocking the shifter underneath the car and it worked not to long ago
WTF could have happenned?

something is in your gear selector, i just had the same thing happen to me !! seal went bad and lost all my fluid and one of the synchro rings broke and stuck in my selector ! sucks bad !! anyways thats most likely what happened... maybe not a ring but something is in there jamming it up ! gearspeed here I come !!
I havent driven the car, is it possibly because of the super cold weather and no tranny fluid?

I second just getting under the car and taking a visual of anything that could be wrong. For all you know, a squirrel could've run up into the 5th gear side of your shifter and died.

It like hit a wall when I tried to go over to the 5th gear portion
no sound or anything, just stopped moving

I hate to tell you this but your tranny is fucked.
I had the exact same thing happen to my ys-1. What happened is either a lack of oil and you burnt up with of the Snychros and it broke and jingled around inside the case. OR the "dog tag" i think is what it's called is not engaging the fork to grab 5th and reverse. I had to trash my tranny, and go get a new one....Trust me pushing your Crx out of a parking spot like a motorcycle is no laughing matter when it's you and your gf doing it. Trust me. Look into a new tranny, or buy a replacement kit for the Fork/synchros/tags/gears of 5th and reverse.
I just reread the post. Your Tranny fluid might be frozen in the case. Drain it/fill it and then try it. and Yes believe it or not Lack of tranny fluid can F*ck up your tranny up unbelievably. So do that then try it again.

how would the tranny be fucked, it was fine when it was pulled from a previous car
i put a new t/o bearing in it, attached it to an a6 motor
was able to easily change gears and go into reverse and fifth last tiem i was there, return two weeks later without touching the car and it just wont go in
car is not started and has not moved....

Let's not rule this out, however you really shouldn't just say you are fu-cked. Have you looked at his car?

well You might not have a blown tranny but Sometimes the transmission needs to move to put it into gears. MAybe just move the car or just try to get the transmission to move a little and see if that works. Did you get what I am saying?
hey
i was having the same problem on my ZC setup...was working fine then all of a sudden no reverse or 5th...was doing it when i was driving too....
when i jerked the car really hard while driving...it felt like something let go then it was working fine
i figured the 2 culprits could be the shifter was hitting the exhaust or like the previous post the tranny just need to budge a little....

It is probably just the linkage frozen up. I also am in Ontario and it's probably a bit colder up here though! My linkage would freeze any time it would get wet earlier in the season and then left over night. I would just let it idle for a bit and the exhaust would heat things up. It would feel as though there was a wall halfway across the range of the shifter. Hope that's your problem. Good luck
