I have a 94 EJ1, and i know that my bushings (stock) are going. I emailed pat goss (one of the best in the business) about what I could do. He replied by saying you can take the parts to a automotive machine shop and have them installed, for less then $50. I got quotes from repair shops that averaged out to 450. I dont feel like spending that much, but is there more i should know about bushing installation? Or is it just a "out with the old, in with the new" type of situation.

 

did you tell the shop exactly what you wanted done and that you would be bringing in the parts removed from the car with the old bushings already removed?

Be very clear when asking for estimates....they may not have realized exactly what you wanted done....... (or they could just be trying to rip you off)

 

yea, i told them that i have polyurethane bushings that are already purchased, and that the work would include removing the old and installing the new (which all hovered = $450)

 

and that it would be all bushings on the vehicle

 

yeah, out with the old, in with the new..

just remember to l00be the bitch up really good cause if not ur gunna get some hardcore squeeking since your not reusing the metal sleave.

also, if the bushings do not come out clean, just make sure that it didnt dig into the part and create any burrs that would cut up the new bushing.
