I think the coupe a simple style but in this case simple is good, also think about the endless mods, but I think the 02 Si has better brake and suspension I dont know for sure but I would take the 00 Si coupe it just feels Like it wants to go to redline every time and with a GSR bottom end and skunk2 cams and valvetrain and hondata which is cheaper now a days you'll have a solid high 13 car, that looks better. or go get 06 civic Si thats THE **** it has every thing good brakes, engine, suspension, and looks great. the EP3 Si looks and feels kind of sluggish....
I had a 91 Si, 98 GSR, 99 Si, 02 Si and soon 06 Si so I know...
out of all the GSR was the funnest
the Si was my quickest at 12.89@105MPH N/A I love hondata
but they all got "stolen" or sold
now 530i until my 06 Si gets here!

That is a tough one! I like the styling of the ep3 much more. I really like hatches and the interior on the ep3 is second to none. However, it comes stock with the infamous a3 engine. Now I have had my ep3 for a couple years and it is hardly a dog, in fact the tourque is pretty good stock. The problem you have is that without going F/I or doing a swap you are limited to I/H/E/K-pro which I think would get you something like 25-30 whp. You may want to check with Barracksi, I think he has most of this stuff already on his car.

I think the '00 Si was one of the better looking coupes Honda has made. They used KISS and got it right. Parts are everywhere for this car and are pretty cheap, not to mention real VTEC and a host of JDM engines and parts already in this country since people have been playing with this car longer.

I dont thing either car would be a bad choice, the '00 would be cool because you could get something like a b16b or b18c5 for a good price, however a k20a2 would drop right in an ep3, but is more expensive. I would also be considering things like miles on the car and what shape they are in. Even if you are planning on doing a bunch of work to it after you get it, its always better to start with a good platform.

I dont know if any of this really helps, I am a hatch guy so I have the ep3, which I really like. The chassis is stiff and handles well with some suspension upgrades. Like I said the engine isnt really a dog out of the box and will respond to some bolt ons pretty well.

Good luck!

Yeah -- i/h/e, and, in my case, without kpro, added between 20-30 whp.

The '00 Si is a heck of a car, but I still think the EP is a better platform. It's torquey-er, it's stiffer, it's more civilized, and it's part of the K-series family. A little work can get you a barn burner of a hatchback.

Wow, this guys pretty cool, huh?

I'd go with the EP3. I've driven both and they are so close in acceleration and handling that the deciding factor for me, would be how fun it is to drive, and the EP3 is definitely the more fun of the two. Also, if you are just going to to basic upgrades to both cars; Intake, Header, Exhaust, And ECU work, The EP3 would come out on top, as the K in it responds much better to simple mods than the B16a2 does. Also, someone on here has some kick *** cams that they are trying to produce for the a3

Or you could buy the '00 Si, then buy MY K20A3 motor, which will get you a faster car... and help finance my own motor swap.. lol

Either car is good and both need a swap or a big build to make big power.
I have an ep that's almost done and will put down over 600whp & 500tq, w/ k24. If you just want a daily driver that you want to learn how to work on, then I'd say 00 for the simplicity of it's build! If you're a K fan of their big tq. then get the ep ,& when your ready do a swap and start knocking off vetts!

I like parking my EP next to an RSX, especially when I've got on my winter rims -- 02-04 5-spoke RSX wheels.

I like rubbing it in, reminding RSX drivers that they've got a Civic under that sheetmetal.. lol

I faced this same decision about a month or so ago. I settled on the Ep3 and purchased mine a few days ago, on Friday. I haven't been a happier man since.

B series technology is old, but cheap. K series is the new hotness, but it's also the expensive hotness. 00 SI's are much more common, whereas Ep3's are harder to find and makes you that much more excited when you spot one on the road.

And I mean, come on... You can't beat the dash-mounted shifter, it's seriously only like a few inches from the steering wheel, I absolutely love it!

I'd say go with the Ep3. If what you read here isn't convincing enough, head over to ephatch.com and meet some of the people there. They've got some of the friendliest and coolest people out of any community I've been a part of. Only seen maybe like one jackass on the entire boards, if that.

[/end shameless plug of ephatch]

I honestly love ep3's. I have a base rsx so i have the k20a3. With I/H/E i have plenty of power around town and its fun to drive. Plus 30mpg on 87 octane rocks

very true, for some reasons, most EP owners I've met are all very friendly people. I also think the EP community is the best ever, people help each other out everytime. We have frequent big meets, mini meets, BBQ meets and so on.. Last week, bunch of EP hatchers helped install the Greddy turbo on one of the EPs. So the help is always there when u need it. I dont think you can get the same out of EM..
