taillight fuse keeps blowing
i have a 92 hatch.. i recently changed my fog light bulbs to some luminix "jdm" yellow... i drove my car forawhile that day.... ran it hard a few times, then what do u know, my fuse blew out.. and until this day, i still havent solved this... this has been happening for 2 weeks straight and i went thru 3 fuse box cases... its the 10A fuse that powers the cluster, tail lights, fog lights and corners... the weird thing is, it feels like it blows out when i jerk the car hard or while i'm driving.. because everytime i floor it, it blows.. but when i'm just sitting my car in idle, it doesnt blow... this **** is pissin me off... i checked the fog light and corner light wires already... even the grounds... anyone have any suggestions ??? or any help would be really appreciated...
that happened to me i sware just a week ago. i got some 99-00 civic taillights and went threw a couple bulbs and fuses. the reason was because somehow the bulb on the left side was a bit bigger and was a higher wattage and made it burn out. i finally found the right size i believe because it hasnt blown out yet lol
the problem with aftermarket bulbs is they arent the same as the stock bulbs even though it says that they are, id check the set up of the bulbs compared to a stock bulb and if there is any difference between the two take it out. I came upon this problem when i bought apc clear corners, i swapped the lights, and even though it said 92-95 civic 2-3 door, i blew my turn signal relay, the fuse that you are blowing, and lost all function of my gauges on the dash...

thanks for the replies... but i BELIEVE the bulb doesnt have anything to do with it, i just stated about the bulb cuz thats when it started happening...
well, i unplugged my fog lights and drove around with just the headlights/corners and it still blew out... and i didnt rewire anything... anymore suggestions ?

get a multi meter and start checking for shorts to ground. With the meter on the "OHM" setting, touch the black lead to a bare metal part of your car and the other lead to the load side of the fuse holder. with the light switch turned ON, if you read anything at all you have a short to ground that needs to get hunted down. Good luck. Electrical troubleshooting can suck. Especially in a car that's filled with miles of wires. More than likely though the problem will be somewhere where you have access to it because things generally don't screw themselves up without some kind of outside interference.

wow that sucks... people with that SIMILIAR problem said its a ground behind the radio, but that doesnt make sense since thats powered by a different fuse... maybe ?? who knows... but that isnt the case with mine... last nite, mine blew out when i jerked the car in 1st... then after i turned off all the lights, it went out 1 after the other after the other when i replaced it... i shut my car off for like 2 minutes... plugged in another fuse and it worked... a short in the wire seems to be the culprit..

OK i figured out the problem... the combination of my intercooler piping and the frame of the car where the intake would go was rubbing each other and caused the wire to slice thru the rubber part and expose the wire to metal... therefor everytime i accellerated, the intercooler piping would move n rub against the wire and caused the fuse to blow...
i said all that just in case anyone had that problem

Like I said, the problem was somewhere where something can get to the wires. Congrats on finding it.

No crap. Stuff like that can be a huge pain to track down.
