Sucks for shaun. I think he rattled the tires. They just showed a quick clip of the pass. Force went 4.66 @ 329 though (I think). He has to back it up tomorrow to gain the record though.

he didn't qualify, unfortunately.
But there are some other rumbles goin on. Apparently according to the commentators Glidden didn't approve of Carlson getting the ride. He wanted his son to get it.

Naturally he wanted his son to get it. Shaun getting this seat has been highly controversial. Not all of the NHRA guys are against him getting the ride, some are for it. But most really think Shaun doesn't deserve it.
Maybe someone should have stepped it up a little more in the shootout
Shaun earned that seat. I'm just really suprised that a Shu car doesn't make the field. Pro Stock is a whole different world.

It's just the first race of the season. As of right now there's nothing to worry about, let Shaun get some seat time and I'm sure that he'll do a great job driving the car.
Best of luck to you in '06 Shaun.

just to throw a monkey wrench in this. Who is tuning his car? I wouldn't put ne thing past glidden. Same guy caught cheating back in the 80s.

He sure doesn't seem to happy about Shaun driving the car. He said having him drive the car is like having him be a QB for the steelers during the Super Bowl
. Ouch.

that was quite a dig. i certainly dont think and hope that he is rigging shauns car. it wouldnt be very professional and eventually it would show. i didnt expect that shaun would take over the class in his first apperance of the season, theres 22 more events ill keep rooting for him.

Just came back from Pomona. I saw Lisa Kubo signing autographs with Frank Pedregon in Pedregon's souvenir trailer. Neither of them were in the show.
I wonder if Glidden could slow the car down .02 or so. Just enough to keep Shaun from qualifying. I can't imagine that happening but I guess you would never know for sure.

DSR's Pro Stock program isn't anywhere near where it needs to be regardless of the guy in the seat. They just aren't there. After Bob's interview I have no respect for him and I hope they give him the boot. He's just throwing a temper tantrum and the interview was another chance for him to express that he thought DSR put the wrong guy in the seat.
For Shaun's sake, I hope Bob leaves. Shaun deserves someone who is going to give a **** about getting him down the track.

You guys didn't "hear" what Bob was saying ...
Bob wanted a championship caliber driver for both cars, right away, right now he feels Shaun wasn't/isn't the right person for the job... I don't think its anything personal against Shaun (maybe it is?) but its just the way the man feels. He felt he was wasting his time by not having a certain driver behind the wheel, that's why he left. He felt he was wasting his time, but then had a change a heart and didn't want everyone in his crew to lose their jobs and came back.
He then went on to use football as a metaphor, saying that in the position Shaun has been put in, is along the same lines of a championship football team deciding on what quarterback to use 2 weeks before the season starts. "Being thrown to a pack of wolves."
Bob then went on to say that he will continue to work with Shaun to improve and hone his driving skills ....
Shaun is just going to have to prove himself this year ... to everyone apparently. But I don't know if there is much hope for anyone in Pro Stock. That Summit team has their stuff together. Its going to be tough getting anything from them this year.
Good luck to you Shaun.

It just depends on the ears listening. I thought that BG could have set the record straight without bringing Shaun into the conversation at all. The football reference was just retarded. It was just another chance for him to talk about DSR and Mopar picking the wrong guy. I hope he straightens up and acts as Shaun's mentor.
Its time he recognizes his role on the team and get over acting like a baby. In the meantime, everyone needs to show a lot of support to that team and especially Shaun. Lets show them that picking Shaun was a great decision and that it is attracting a new fan base.

Good luck to you in the upcoming season

Regardless of who is listening, Shaun told me that he, and Glidden, have come to an agreement that they are in this for the long haul. Shaun was saying that after all the trials that Glidden had put him through, he stuck with it and Glidden appreciated that and agreed to help. Schumacher also came in to talk with Shaun and agreed that he is behind Shaun 100%. Shaun said that when Shumacher was looking over the car, it was the longest 10 minutes of his life. Shumacher then stated that it was in fact the car that was not performing and that Shaun was doing just fine. Shaun not qualifying had nothing to do with any " sabatoge " it was merely a mis-step and it will come around. Shaun will be testing this weekend before AZ and you can bet that his car, crew and himself will do better at the next race!
Good luck Shaun!
Good luck Shaun!
