Default d16y8 EF owners, Feedback?

Hi. This might be an engine that i`ll be swapping in my EF this summer. It`s either that or a slightly built D16a6 (ported head, mild cam, chipped ecu). What 1/4 mile times did you guys run? Is it fun to drive? If you were me, what engine would you chose from those 2 and why?

Thanks a lot.

Well turns out I`m keeping the Y8, converting it 0bd1, custom ITB setup, lightweight flywheel and something to tune it. I already have all the parts exept the tuning program. I`m hoping for around 120-125 whp.

My friend has one in a 91 crx si. That little bugger moves pretty well.
Its running only a CAI and catback and chipped p28. He ran a b16 hatch and kept up pretty well.

I keep telling him to boost it

when i had my crx with a stock y8 it was fun, but only ran mid to low 15's in the 1/4 and it put some b16's to shame. since i have turboed it, it now runs low 13's in the 1/4 and completely spanks any b swapped car, 1jz swapped supras, srt-4's, mustangs, camaros, and several other cars that i cant think of right now. i would say go with the y8 and eventually boost it. n/a on a d is not worth it.

i had a z6 in my hatch and man i only lost a few races but i smoked eclipse GST, 2005 GTI, B18C coupe, 240s all day to name some of my better kills. the only thing i seriously lost to was a 2005 GTI 20th Aniv. with Revo pushing 21 pounds of boost. mine put down 110 HP and 100 TQ with header, 2.25 inch exaust with 2 resonators and no muffler you will be happy with the swap for a while

Wow that`s nice to know. I wonder what 1/4 mile times i`ll be running, my car is an 89 civic si completely stripped (don`t even have roof and hood supports, bought it that way), no sun roof and aluminum bumper supports. It`s light as hell!

heres the times i ran:
'91 std hatch
full interior
D16z6
dx tranny
shitty tires
b16 TB
CAI
2 inch exhaust
stage 1 clutch and 11 lb flywheel

14.7@98 i believe(not sure on mph- its been awhile)

anyways i was happy for a while and then i started to get bored with it... thats why i have the boosted D16Y8 in right now
