Can I use a H23 block for H22 setup ?
I have a question: I have currently a H22 engine in my car. It burns oil, no signifiant loses in power however.
I have already bought oversized type-s pistons with rings.
As I don't want to immobilise my car for a month I have an idea to buy a bare block from H23 engine (as here you can get it for very cheap from cracked head engine), to give it to the machine shop to bore to match my oversized pistons, in other words to prepare the block for swap.
I have picked up a complete JDM h22a head that I will give to machine shop to do a port & polish job too, change valve guides, valve sealers and to mount my type-s springs that I already have on the side.
Then I do the swap during one weekend, having the H23 block with H22 type-s pistons, new ACL bearings, new gaskets, o-rings etc. and JDM H22 head refurbished.
The question for now is: basically the H22 and H23 blocks are the same. I know the upper entrance for vtec system is clogged if the block ran in H23 engine. The clogging thing can be removed. But what about oil squitter system ? Is H23 block prepaired to get it ? Any other issues ?

you will have compression out the ***.. those pistons are domed and the h23 crank has a longer stroke. it would work though. id just get it resleeved
You didn't understand me correctly, or I explained not enough clearly:
The crank, oil pan etc will be taken from my current H22.
Two things that have to be machined (=time consoming) would be prepared before:
- a second H22 head I have,
- H23 BARE block with H22 type-s oversized pistons and rods from a H22A4 (I have them too).
All the rest would come from my current H22 engine (with new bearings, seals of course
)
The idea is to be able to do this during one weekend.

It should work, but you may need to get different bearing sizes to match the crank to the new block, and you need to make sure the H22 crank is 50mm mains, not 55.
