have any of you actually tried clear coating your parts from those spray cans? i was just curious if this works or actually makes a difference in faded parts..ie. carbon fiber. thanks

i recently used it on a valve cover i just painted. it is kinda awkward to use though. i think i had about a billion light coats with it and i am greatly impressed with the results.

would i recommend it on exterior parts? only on smaller parts such as a lip or something.

it is also really easy to skip over/ miss parts, so have a decent light to make sure you can cover everything.

let me go snap some pics even though lighting will blow out loud

works fine!.. i forgot the brand.. some name from pepboys or whatnot and painted my sideskirts stock civic silver (98) when i had a civic. and it held fine through washes and whatnot. the only thing is prep it right and have it paint in the right temp/weather.

you gotta do such heavy coats for it to flow out.i did a set of type r wheels and it took me one can of clear per wheel..to get it to bling..then again it wasnt as durable as real auto clear...

I did it on my black teg on the rear hatch and it DID NOT WORK WELL AT ALL. I actually used vehicle clear coat, the good stuff, and did light coats, ect, I did it right, and it started to fade after abotu 4~6 months, then started clouding, then started chipping off. I would not risk it with carbon fiber anything, take it to a paint shop and let them spray it for you bro. It might be different with silver, might not show up as much, but I would say be careful!!

the key to using the stuff is in the prep work and following the dirrections o and it doesn't hurt not to be cheap and use a name brand couf couf duplicoler o and if it turns out bad its your fault not the clears

I'm gonna push the thresh hold level of rattle can DIY this summer with my EF and painting the whole exterior with matching paint/clear. I will be buying all or most of my supplies from http://www.paintscratch.com

I tested it with one can on my satin black hood. The hood is pretty beat up, and the clear coat made it look worse... I wound up just spraying more black over it.

helped my brother use it when we were doing rims.

Kind of hard to use it, because we didn't know whether it was enough or not. =P

And it ended up gettin super dirty and hard to clean off because there was not enough clear coat

clear coat on the valve cover, and on the plug cover, the plug cover was flat balck, so just clear can do that to flat balck.

oh yes rattlecans can work wonders!

All of these ive done with rattlecan. I think the main key is wet sanding in between the coats, if done right, no wetsanding and finishing is needed. The only one that i didnt finish and polish is the spoon style mirrors. The rest was wetsanded with 2000grit and polished out.
