disabling the 4th gen el gauge cluster dimmer
i love the way the el gauge cluster illuminates at night (when the headlights AREN'T turned on); VERY bright!! I was wondering if there is a way to keep the el gauges from dimming when the headlights are turned on. Would disconnecting the dimmer wire from the harness accomplish this?
Thats strange, on my car if I roll the dimmer switch all the way up, its the same brightness as if I have the headlights off. I have mine set way low, driving in the city is ok with it bright, but in the country you will crash cause I interferes with your vision of the road. I have a 92 Prelude S btw, maybe you can just try to score a different dimmer switch.

yup that should work, it clicks after the highest dim.

I did the el gauge cluster conversion into my 93 prelude. Are you suppose to be able to control the light output on the EL gauge cluster through the dimmer switch? My EL gauges are either bright (headlights off) or dim (headlights on); it doesn't respond to the dimmer switch. For those of you who have an EL gauge cluster, is this how it's to suppose to operate?
bump. ANYONE?

edit: note that this is the EL gauge cluster (speedometer) i'm talking about and NOT the fuel/temp gauge panel.

i cut and splice. I had a left over wire (red) after the installation that's not connected to anything. Does anyone know where this wire is suppose to go? because i know that it has to do something with the dimmer.
basically in this setup (that is not exactly as supposed to be if dimming **** does not work for cluster area) you have to make a switch that will cut off the red/blk wire going to the cluster whitch gives the lights on signal to it.
