need to know once and for all what harness to buy...
hello everybody.
soon i'm gonna swap the b16a2 into my EJ9 and i need to know that wiring harness to look for...
the b16 is gonna replace my old D14A4 that is a SFi,
thanks.

Just get the harness that was intended for the engine you're using. I really don't think it's going to be as easy as this for you though. Didn't you post up an ECU connector diagram for what controls that D14A4? It only had 2 ECU connectors, if memory serves me.

yeah i did post a diagram of the ecu a while back....
what do you mean by "Just get the harness that was intended for the engine you're using" ? my car is 0BD2 as far as i know, the b16a2 is a obd1... and i wanna keep it obd1.
i know its gonna be hard... i'm trying to make it easy as possible..

I'm not a 5th gen guy, but the B16A2 is what came in the 99-00 Si. I think it also came in the 94-95 Del Sol then they switched it over to the B16A3 for 96-97....I think....don't hold me to the Del Sol info, but the Si info is correct. I thought you were just staying OBDII, is all.
OBD2 cars (Civics anyway) used a 1-piece harness that runs through the firewall and then partially connects to the ECU....as in, if you had the engine sitting on a stand with the engine harness connected to it, you would NOT have all the ECU connectors present on that harness.
With that said, and my unfamilairity with your particular engine/chassis, I don't know if the rest of your car is wired like our OBD2B chassis over here. We don't even have an EJ9, just 5, 7 and 8. So the last thing I'm gonna do is tell you to just get the Ex/Si harness and you'll be good because I don't know what your interior wiring looks like....but it is a start.
But when you do OBD2 swaps, you generally re-use the stock harness and add/lengthen wires as needed but I doubt your A4 harness is re-usable in this case. From what I remember of your diagram, you don't even have 4 seperate wires from the ECU that go to the individual injectors, they are grouped in pairs, correct? That and it only has 2 ECU connectors (neither of which fit a US OBDII ECU), so I really doubt that harness will fly.
And even when staying OBDI in an OBDII chassis (Civic), the stock harness is retained and an ECU conversion harness is used so you can use the OBDI ECU.

go to rywire.com and they'll solve your problems with some very good wire harnesses that aren't ghetto rigged and sloppy which you'll regret later on if they are that way, it's worth it to pay for it and get it done right the first time.
thanks for the long answer EE_Chris
