Default Side marker painting question.

Ok, I am gonna paint my clear side markers orange. How should i prep them? I am guessing that I use some very fine wet sand paper to skuff them up a bit, then use amber paint.

What kind of paint? How much is is? And can I buy small quantities of it? (I only have to paint 2 side markers, I hardly need any amber paint for this.) I want good quality that will withstand harsh canadian winters...ie. wont chip off or look shitty.

Thanks guys!

The only prep I did was clean them with rubbing alcohol. I used Tamiya clear orange model paint, so yeah it comes in a small bottle. I applied it with a disposable foam brush (I used the narrowest size and had to trim the sides to fit it into the bottle). Then I just brushed it on. I used several coats to acheive the shade of orange that best matched stock lenses. After letting it dry for about a day, I went back and sanded very lightly w/ very fine sandpaper (1500 or 2000 grit) then finished off with some 3M rubbing compound to make it perfectly smooth. I did this way back before last Thanksgiving and now almost 6 months later it has held up just fine.

paint the insides of the sidemarkers, it will last longer. Hey PatrickGSR94, are you ever in green hills? I think I have seen your car before. Maybe we can hang out sometime. Email me at kevinb615a@hotmail.com

If you get OEM sidemarkers you can't paint the insides. It doesn't come apart. Mine are painted on the outside and it's held up just fine. I would recommend brush paint because these parts are so small and spray paint is so messy. For bumper lights I would say spray paint but for these brush paint definetly.
